Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I'm so excited I found a website for fasting diets! This past summer I started the Every Other Day Diet expecting it to fail miserably (especially since I have hypothyroidism which makes losing weight an even bigger pain) and it worked better than I dreamed it would. I was doing really well until I started a long, drawn-out interview process with a company that was 400 miles away. I had to drive down to the company twice for training, which involved a ten hour car drive each way, and I was so stressed I quit the diet.

Well, after nearly two month of interviews and training...I didn't get the job, and packed on a LOT of weight in a short time.

So, I decided as of November 1st, I was going to get back on the EODD. I'm currently in the middle of a move (actually I'm moving tomorrow ugh) so I wanted to wait until after I was all moved in so I could focus 100% on taking care of myself.

However, I know I need to get into the habit of taking care of myself even when things in life get stressful...because that's life lol. I think a good support group will be able to help with keeping me accountable, and especially one that's familiar with my diet!

I've already started mentally preparing for this weight loss journey, and have taken a few steps to motivate myself. I bought a HUGE wall calendar for my new place, and plan on writing down my weight on it on a daily basis. I also bought a large poster with a goal thermometer- you know, you fill in the thermometer the closer you get to your goal? And lastly, I made myself a reward list- my goal is to lose five pounds a month, and for every five pounds I lose, I get something from my reward list!

If anyone has any other motivational tips, I'd love to hear them!
Welcome @bookwench!

You sound very positive and motivated - and so true we need to look after ourselves whatever is happening in our lives - perhaps even more so when we are in stressful times.

Would you like to join us in the Christmas Challenge as another type of motivation? Read the couple of relevant threads and see what you think.

Good luck and best wishes. :clover:
