Stick with it! I've been on the scenic tour since early March. My first month I was on the express bus and lost 3.5kg. During March and most of April, I lost virtually nothing - just fluctuated within a 0.5kg window - more of just a trip around the roundabout rather than scenic. Then last week, after a week of laid on lunches of crisps/sandwiches, I put on a kilo! Admittedly, it was that time of month!

Was a bit down but knowing others were experiencing the same (on this thread) did make me carry on. I decided against the 36 hour fast that has kickstarted a few but did decide to try to be ultra aware of TDEE this week.

I've been deliberately good this week; smaller lunches, a couple of veggie/grain days and just one sugary cupcake at a party. Basically - I skipped a pig out day. And today it appears my tour bus has found its way back to the highway. I'm 2kg down on last week. 1kg on my previous low and I'm v chuffed.

I did end up with 3 days between fasts rather than 1/2. And I ended up not going to the gym on my fast days. Next week, I'll try to stay good but I probably will end up back on 2 days between fasts and back at the gym so we will see if that moves me back to the scenic route or not. I hope not!

Anyhow... I'm sorry this is a bit selfcongratulatory but did want to let you know that even if you hit a go-slow, if you stick with it you can see progress.

Well done
Yes well done applespider. This thread has kept me plodding away too. I have done a similar thing - been much more aware on normal days and reigned it in a bit more. Doesn't feel like a strict diet on those days though by any means and I am happy to say that the scales moved down last week and i have maintained this week but think I have water retention at the moment so am optimistic. I love my 500 cal suppers so will plod on!
Hiya all! Hope fellow slowboaters are well! Just got back after being away for 8 days and have put on a kilo! Oops! Skipped brekky and walked 23 miles in the first 3 days, so hate to think what would have happened if I hadn't! Glad to say I really enjoyed my food out there, and I did drink alcohol everyday, which packs a lot of water on me - viva Espana! Will have a bit less beer next time though :0)
I felt I was the only one struggling with the "amazing results"....I know I will get there, but definately by the scenic route. It is for life after all so I'm not going to get hung up on the numbers. :-)
Welcome back on board Dragonbirdy - sounds like you had a great time in Spain! +1 kg ain't a bad trade off for all those tapas & cerveza is it? 23 miles in 3 days is flippin' brill!

Claire2510 - hop on, we'll arrive at our destination eventually....:)
Hiya Madge1304 - I did enjoy it mind, paella, bread, chips, crisps, puddings - om nom nom! We also managed to go the only week in April which rained and was cold lol! Good chance to get out and about while the weather is cooler mind- my DH is into photography so he got some cracking piccies!
The only downside is coming back with a stinking cold, you know there is always someone on the plane sniffing and coughing? It was me yesterday! I did have tissues mind, tried not to spread it round the whole plane :)
Hiya All

I've been away on my holidays too to Turkey and weighed yesterday on my return and i've put on 6lb's!!!

So slow to lose it but so easy to gain :(

Still never mind am hoping most of the gain is water retention and will access it again next week. I know for a fact gonna struggle with my first fast - planned for 2moro!!
Hi TracE sounds like you had a good holiday though so worth it!! Good luck for tomorrow's fast I expect you will be fine. I haven't had a break from fasting since I started and the last two weeks have been really hard! I am eating over 500 and more starving than ever - I have started to lose weight and I think my body is putting up a valiant fight!! Hey ho, bit my tongue eating my roasted vegetables today surprised I didn't eat it!
Hi TreacE and others, I think I am on the scenic route as well!
The same kilo comes and goes.
Am doing 30 day shred, so at least I am getting more stamina to walk the scenic route :-)
I'm trying to speed up the scenic route by opting for Liquid only fasting on my 2 days, and trying NEAT - basically standing and moving as much as possible every day. It seems to be producing results, but so hard to tell what has an effect, and what is just natural cycles.

Hi Eep, have you seen the threads about exercising causing water retention. If you have stalled since you started the shred (don't know what it is but sounds intensive!) maybe that is the cause. If you started some time ago perhaps you have gained some muscle. It's so complex, just keep plugging away....
Hi Mrs H-R, thank you. Yes, I have seen that and am hoping that that is the case. I started exercising because I was not losing any weight. But maybe I am getting all muscular without me noticing ;-)
Welcome back TracE. Hope you had a fab time. Had some good holidays in Turkey myself. I'm sure the weight will come off quickly again. I don't think the boat has left you behind, we're still all going round in circles!!
I am with you lot. Went on a work conference and was horrified to find I had put ON 4 lb. Not impressed. Only saving grace was my cholesterol (2.8) and blood pressure (100/69)
I have started walking more.
:(
