Hello All,

My name is Tina, I am type 2 diabetic, and almost 1 year recovered from open-heart surgery. I want to lose weight, bottom line and I have about 100 pounds to lose.

I want to live the rest of my life, happy and healthy and at a proper weight.

I am learning all I can about fasting, to promote weight loss and hopefully get healthy. I was reading some of the information on the site today and I am very interested in maybe doing the 16:8. I dabbled in IF before but I am sure I was not doing it correctly. I didn't take the time to research and read like I am doing this time around. I assumed that fasting meant not eating at all. When I read on your site that on fasting days calories were consumed but at a very caloric deficient level, it made sense. When I did it before I didn't reduce my calories by much, just reduced my eating window. Looking forward to being productive in here.

Hello Tina ! @cre8ed2serve

As a type-2 diabetic (probably taking T2D medicine?), the admins on this site historically - and quite reasonably - would promptly jump in to suggest that you must instead work directly with your doctor. The primary reason for this is that fasting quickly and dramatically lowers ones blood-sugar level - something that your doctor MUST know about in order to avoid your risk for hypoglycemia and to frequently adjust your prescriptions as you progress.

As a non-admin, successful faster, and occasional returnee, I would add that you read the book "The Diabetes Code" by Dr. Jason Fung and visit his web site at: https://idmprogram.com/. In additional to having an excellent blog, he offers personalized coaching and would likely be your ideal resource going forward.

Hope this helps.
