Hi everyone,

I posted on Friday but it hasn’t appeared so second time lucky?

I started a 36 hour fast Thursday evening, followed by the rest of the week on 16/8. I’m hoping to do this every week.
I’m 5 ft 6 and currently 10 stone 2lb. I’m hoping to get back down to my previous weight of between 8 stone 10 & 9 stone. I work out but have gained weight over the past year or so when I gave up smoking.

I’m a vegetarian and the owner of two labradors who take me for daily walks.

I’ve enjoyed reading the posts for inspiration. :like:

Yes, the delay in posts appearing does seem a little odd...

Welcome. Much to see and read here. Questions? Ask them. We'll do what we can.

I believe that first time posters have to be approved by a site administrator before they show up and so it may take them a little while to get to them!

Thanks guys.

I’m on day 11 now, today was supposed to be a 36 hour fast but I’m going to eat at 8.00p.m which will make it a 24 hour fast..I think I may do this once a week instead of the 36 hr. The rest of the week I’m doing 16/8 as planned. I haven’t weighed myself yet but my clothes are looser.
I’m feeling pretty good at the moment. I started doing Yoga today which is quite difficult.

I’ve been having overnight oats for lunch followed by a normal evening meal. So far so good...I’m very hungry at the moment...roll on 8 o’clock :D

Hi @Sassy1, not too bad....the first 2 weeks I lost 4lb ...Yay....I lost nothing on the 3rd week ....Boo (I didn’t do the 24 or 36 hour fast) I took a few days off then in disgust but I’m back on it again this week. :D So I’m at 9 stone 12 at the moment...14lb to go. Hope you’re doing well. I think I may join you on the 5:2, the full day fast is proving to be difficult.

Good to hear from you!

I like to think that when you have an initial larger than expected weight loss, then no change, that what is actually happening is that the first weight loss included a lot of water, and then what happens in the following week or so is that there is fat loss, but the body rehydrates, so that no weight loss is shown. Well, it is a more positive way to look at things!

As for "long" periods of fasting - I have never been able to make 24 hours without food. 20 hours was my limit, and nowadays I can rarely manage that...

You don't have a lot of weight to lose, so just take it gently and don't make it too hard for yourself.

Good luck! :clover:
