In simple terms if you get positive readings for ketones in urine, you are definitely burning fat. But, negative readings don't mean you are not burning fat as the ketones being produced may all be being used so there are none being excreted.

PhilT, I'm impressed with your post exercise blood ketones. Volek & Phinney 'Low carb performance' put that right in their 'keto adapted' post exercise range. The practical benefit of that is there are then enough ketones in the blood (since muscle are using fat) to fuel the brain. They suggest 4 weeks of ultra low carb (<50) is needed to achieve such nirvana. Maybe IF gets a similar result after a period of months ?

I suspect the reason way 52 has the 5/600 cals intake is because that should more or less meet the brains daily need. Since it can't use fat without being in a keto adapted body it could be in trouble otherwise.
