Hi Everyone

I thought I would put together a couple of pics to show you some features of the new forum.
New forum features
Click on each image to see it in all it's glory or you'll only see half of the features I'm highlighting!

Menu button, user control panel, search button
Slide1.jpg

View user profile, return to previous pages, like button, edit your post

The system should choose the best view for your device, but you can force it to give you the mobile view or the desktop view by scrolling right to the very bottom of the page and clicking on "switch to mobile view" or "switch to desktop view" depending on what you prefer. The desktop view does not shrink down to fit your screen so you may have to scroll left and right to see it all depending on your screen size and browser settings, but you might prefer that.

Any problems (after you've cleared your cache) please email forum@fastday.com ideally with a screenshot of your problem and details of the device you're using (iphone, ipad, kindle) and the browser (safari, chrome, silk).

But before you do anything else, please clear your browser cache if you haven't already.

Clearing your cache
Your browser has a folder in which certain items that have been downloaded are stored for future use. Graphic images (such as buttons and icons), photos, and even entire web pages are examples of items which are saved or cached. When visiting a webpage your browser checks if a copy of the files on the page is in its cache already. If so, it will save the visitor some downloading and make webpages load faster. However, because we have changed the forum design this causes problems for some users. You need to clear the cache and all will be well!

Here are some instructions for clearing the cache in different browsers http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/

Hi @carorees, I have looked and looked again, I can't find where or if my browser cache can be cleared on a mac book? Do you or anyone on the forum know? :)

Does the website I linked to not give the right instructions? Here: http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/safari-5/
Also you can try pressing Command and R together.
Finally, if using Safari click on the word Safari in the top left, click on preferences, choose privacy. See the button "remove all website data" and below it a small button labelled "details"? Click on details and scroll down until you find our site in the list. Click on remove. that should do it!

If you're using Chrome, click on the word Chrome in the top left, choose "clear browsing data", uncheck all the boxes except "cached images and files", click on "obliterate all items in the last..." and choose beginning of time (!) and then on "clear browsing data".

Hopefully one of those should do it!

Please, why do my BMI and stats no longer show on the left under my picture? And why can't I make the writing appear larger with my usual double tap on my iPad?
Many thanks.

Click on the cog symbol by your name as in the pic I posted. Your stats will pop up!

Not sure about the zoom function, need to check with @fast_jason

The cog symbol next to the picture works on my PC to show a drop-down menu with the person's stats but on iPad (mobile view), there is no cog and it goes to their profile page, which then you have to hit the back button to go on reading posts. A bit tedious.

I am so happy that finally there is a Home link at the bottom of the page but now where is the Home link at the top of the page? Similar to the stats situation, on my PC there is a drop-down menu at the top under the topic title that includes going Home but I can't find it on my iPad. ???

Edit: Just realized, I am not in mobile view. I click on Switch to Mobile View, the page reloads but when I check at the bottom of the page, it still shows "Switch to Mobile View". What's with that?? Very confused

If you're on an iPad, I'd suggest changing to responsive view. That's what I'm using on my kindle and its screen is smaller than yours.

Home link is in the forum menu as shown in my pics in the first post on this thread

Info in the link didn't work for me, but going into safari preferences did. Thanks for that @carorees. :like:

Which stats do you mean @rawkaren? Did you click on the cog symbol by your name?

No I can't access it. I see it (assume in account settings in yellow bar) when I load the page on iPad but then it drops off.
Update: I'm now on mobile view on ipad so can see the cog, but I have had the wheel of death now for 5 mins when I pressed the cog.
So I'm back on my airbook, cache cleared, but still can't see the cog - yet the account settings icon pops up everytime I load the page and then quickly disappears.
