Maintaining August 2015

Well, we are moving towards mid August and no maintenance topic yet  Are we all happy celebrating holidays or too embarrassed to report the post holiday situation? Don't worry, you will be fine once normality gets you in its grip.
For me, I am working my socks off to get rid of my cycling holiday loss that put me dangerously close to overstepping my lower maintenance boundary. Pretty confident that no fasting, regular work and some good food will do the trick

I'm back to having just one pesky pund to deal with-or not as the case maybe. I decided to throw a proper fast into the mix, but slept badly as a result so the pesky pound may be here to stay. We shall see.

Oops! Four pounds over by the time the grandaughters went home after their three week stay! However, I fasted yesterday and a lot of 'water weight' has disappeared, leaving me just 1.1 pounds to deal with! Fasting again on Thursday and fewer indulgences on non-fast days should soon see that pound gone!
Thanks @P-JK for starting the thread - your holiday must have been a most energetic one for you to come back lighter! Lucky man! :victory:
@Merlin, what's a pound between friends? They come, they go and usually for no apparent reason!!

After the week end my weight has been up, although I am window fasting (3,5/21,5) all the time. I am still at least a half a pound heavier than I would like to be, before the guests arrive day after tomorrow. At least I can have breakfasts when the guests are here, I am looking forward to that very much. Not eaten anything as yet today and feeling empty.
I suppose the good news is that even now I am within my 'wiggle room' for maintenance. It sure will be interesting to see how this month will weight-wise end up

Thanks P-JK, you made me smile - enjoy the good food  Spent five days last week with the family up north. While I generally ate food I normally eat I ate more of it as there was a lunch everyday. I also missed my Thursday fast and came back feeling quite sluggish, so I have decided not to weigh myself until I'm back into my routine and my body is back in rhythm. Feeling the benefits of yesterday's fast and hoping Thursday's fast will hit the spot. Saving up my indulgences for when we go to the Dordogne in September

Ah the pesky pound! I had three of the blighters hanging around last week; managed to give 2 of them the slip. I am just going about my normal business hoping the last one will get bored and slink off; if not, it will soon be accompanying me on a long strenuous walk and it will not be happy.

In the past couple of weeks my low weight has been right on target (135 lbs.) but today's weight is the high point of 137.5, disturbingly enough that's what I weighed at bedtime last night, too--I usually lose one or two pounds overnight :?: Could it be the 2 large slices of mushroom pizza for dinner? followed up by dark chocolate, ice cream and some nuts? If this keeps up over the weekend, I'll do a fast day on Monday when I'll be too busy to think about food.

I think it was on this thread where I mentioned wondering what my blood work (and OH's) would be like after 12-18 months of going lower-carb and higher fat. Well, we are both still withing the normal limits of our lipid profile, with several values showing improvement. :victory: Doc had no comment--I think he believes that as long as I stay healthy, I can do what I want.

What good news from everyone! Congratulations on maintaining! I mean, losing is great, but what's the point if we can't LIVE with the result? :?:
Barbarita, I will forever think of any extra pounds as "little blighters" and I will forever be striving to "give them the slip."
Happy August! A beautiful month--even when it's blazingly hot as it is here in Southern Nevada!

I had actually lost a couple pounds this month, but I was preparing to visit my son again and his wonderful restaurant. So I knew I'd get back any lost pounds.

The visit has been lovely. His restaurant is flourishing, and they have greatly improved the menu. I ate samples of all the dishes until I could not eat another delicious bite. We went to a huge food truck festival, which was dissapointing, very long lines and mediocre overpriced food, but then made up for it with a visit tonite to a neighborhood barbecue that had perfect ribs, beans and Mac and cheese. So good!

Monday I will spend one last morning at the restaurant and then fly home to repent of my dietary sins. But the point of controlling weight is to be able to heartily enjoy wonderful love and food filled vacations like this.

I absolutely agree with you, @peebles. For me that is what makes this WOL so fantastic. I'm really pleased that you had such a lovely time on your visit to your son and that his restaurant is going so well.
I love the fact that this WOL has given me the tools to enjoy my food without worrying about the impact on my health and size. I have also learned that it isn't a problem if I miss a meal every now and then. Yesterday I was at an all day event where the food was over-priced and I was busy with lots to see and I chose not to eat lunch. I realised that I was feeling a little hungry at about four o'clock but then made the decision to not bother eating until I got home at about seven pm. I could never have done that pre 5:2!
This morning (weigh-in day) I am still 1.7 pounds over target - after two fasts this week - but I am not unduly concerned. I'm sure that that the 'pesky pounds' will soon slip away!

Hiya all, lovely to read up on how you're all going. I can't believe how long it's been since I checked in! But I guess since things have been cruising along okay (and busy as things have been) I hadn't manage to make it here. Anyway, my last few weighings have had me around the mid 71kgs, neatly in my maintenance band. Mostly I've been throwing in an 18-20hr fast once a week with no calorie counting and that seems to be keeping me mostly on the straight and narrow.

Still doing fine on maintenance. Today my annual blood values. They are the same as last year, so maintaining weight with fasting brings stable improvements in blood pressure, LDL chloresterole, tryglicerides and cholesterole ratio.

Congratulations P-JK on your blood values. Haven't had any tests but feel well on fasting. Fasting today, since we had 9 days of wonderful guests - and I was in charge of the catering. I tried to eat sensibly, but naturally the weight crept up. I am about 2 kg over my goal weight and ten days left to sort this out. I have decided to do Alternate day fasting for this... It Means fasting after my feasting. C'est la vie....

Last week 125.4, this week 123.8. Being good  as I'm saving my treats for a week in the Dordogne in September.
@Margotsylvia pleased to hear you had a lovely time.

Not much to update on. Almost a year since I reached my goal and still, very happily, maintaining. Not entirely sure how I'm doing it- mostly 16:18 but not always. Less 'shitty carbs' as I refer to them but still indulge on occasion. Weigh daily, walk regularly. From what I've read I still have a long way to go (ie. four more years) before I can confidently say I've reached my goal but at the moment I'm very confident... unless the menopausal witch deems otherwise of course :curse:
