Starting off this month just 1 (measly) lb over my maintenance range. Hope I will go lower sometime in October and actually be in my range for the first time this year. Onward and not upward

My first recorded weigh-in of the month on the 2nd October, showed as 147.2 pounds, one of the few times that I have seen 147 for quite a while! I have been spurred into action by the approach of my next cruise in two and a half weeks time and my knowledge that it will mean a BIG weight gain. :pig2: :pig2:

So, even on my non-fast days, I have given up all cakes pastries, and desserts - unless I really need one  - and am making more of an effort to consider the calorie and nutritional content of what I am eating. This has seen me drop 4.6 pounds since my last recorded weigh-in on the 27th September. In addition my osteopath has told me that I must now walk at least two miles a day, up from my previous limit of one mile. I don't like walking but, if I wish to remain mobile as I age, then he has said that is what I have to do - no ifs, no buts! At least the dog is enjoying the increased walking! :dog:

My good wishes to all of you maintaining this month. Let's all keep in touch as much as we can until the fate of the forum is decided. I for one will miss all my Fast Day friends should it close so keeping fingers crossed!

The HRT experiment continues...
I seem to have stabilised somewhat, at 3 kg above where I'd like to be and my waist is 1 cm larger than it was for all of 2015. If it really does stop there I think it is a price worth paying for better sleep and no hot flushes. I still get warm moments but they are not unbearable like they used to be. I guess the fact that I still get them means it's too soon to start cutting the dose! I don't sleep all night through but when I wake I go back to sleep quickly, which is a massive improvement. I still weigh and measure less than I did most of my adult life :-). I think I need to give it a few months to see what effect the better sleep has on my health and weight before deciding what to do about the HRT in the longer term.

Meanwhile I shall perhaps be taking a step back on the good sleep front due to the excitement of starting my University course on Nutritional Therapy on Thursday :-D

I was on HRT for fifteen years, @carorees, and only came off it then because my doctor finally insisted! I don't think that it made any difference to my weight, or my waist. That was solely down to my constant over-eating! I hope that your HRT makes you more comfortable, especially now you are re-inventing yourself as a student, and that you enjoy your course and learn a lot. Good luck!

I had been struggling with maintenance over the summer, but slowly but surely my weight is getting closer to my acceptable range. I'm a little over a kg out right now, but as long as it keeps going in the right direction. There were times when I thought I'd have a setback (particularly big days, or blown fasts), but nothing came of it. I seem to do better in winter than summer... My 3 year maintenance anniversary is coming up soon. I hope I can share it with you all :-)

I'm 1kg above the top of my maintenance range (66.5-68.5kg) but I managed to maintain weight while at a resort in the Pacific for 12 days this month. There were daily breakfast buffets, dining out every night, no fasting days. My knowledge of 5:2, and the ability to skip the odd lunch, have obviously contributed, as well as no access to kitchen cupboards after dinner... Since I'm back I've put on 400 grams, 100 each day, so tomorrow I'll be back to fasting. In December it will be three years since I started maintaining so I want to be within range by then.

There not be many of us checking in this month but we are all doing wonderfully well! Heading in the direction we want, weight-wise, and not fussing about it whilst we do it. I am so grateful to this forum and this WOL! :victory: I weighed in at 146.7 pounds this morning, with a week to go to my cruise, so I'm happy with that.

Doing rather well this month. Only up 0.5 kg (the smallest unit my scales are measuring) after a week of celebrations and one fast to cope with the damage done. Still nicely within my range as I managed to get some room to work with before the celebrations started

Hi All, well done everyone. I am now a steady 9st 8lb, 28-29" waist, BMI around 22 I think. All I do is throw in a very low carb moderate fat high protein meal once or twice a week and miss one or two breakfasts or lunches if I am not hungry, and I have greatly increased my water intake, SO easy it's almost embarrassing. Everyone I know has now commented on my change in shape - waist 28- 29", a few other reductions I can tell, but I didn't measure.
I do hope the site will continue one way or another, I know I will carry on regardless but it would be great to think that others who are new to this WOL would continue to get encouragement from long-term maintainers and fellow-fasters aiming at maintenance.
Good luck @carorees, hope you will be very happy at uni and successful in your eventual career.
Happy cruising @stowgateresident

All sounds pretty good in the maintenance camp!

Quite a number of us are close to our 3 year anniversaries, which is wonderful. :star: :star: Though I would be curious to know how many of those who did lose weight, through whatever fasting strategy, have been able to maintain that loss... So many have come and gone from this website.

As you may have read, I am not weighing myself, but based on my clothes and how I look and feel, I seem to be doing okay.

Drinking a large glass of warm water with lemon juice first thing each day, half an hour before a meal and at other times when I am thirsty does seem to be helping. As does all the exercise I am doing! I never excluded starchy veg and also believe that reintroducing grains (quinoa and rice mainly, but I do have good quality bread from time to time, and I have included oats in my diet for ages) has also helped - the more variety I have in my diet, the less likely I am to eat the processed sugary carbs. Apart from milk chocolate... I do have more than perhaps I should of that, but I enjoy it so much... And I would have cakes once or twice a week when I go out with family or friends. We have so many great cafes around.

I am trying to eat according to hunger and what I feel like having. And only fast after major overindulgences - when I don't feel like eating anyway. Holidays will continue to be a challenge tho - I identify with Stowgateresident on this! We have a week away coming up, but as it will be mainly self-catering, that will help, though it depends a bit on the foods available for purchase...

Best wishes everyone! :clover:

Entry weight 123 lbs, exit weight 123 lbs, average 124.97 lbs
