I give up

You know that ever since the last (probably not) thyroid happening, I have struggled in total vain with fasting. With the result that the weight is up :( The family is home on summer leave and vacation plus I had the enormous pleasure to have my oldest Sam at home for 4 weeks while he attended European Bartender School (heart ached when he went back home), which have lead to more or less "normal" feeding. Of course we have had quite a few HB diet dinners, everyone loves them, but the wine and snacks each night watching a movie...well not good and I feel such a looser.
But yesterday while grocery shopping for the week I made a snap decision - as soon as youngest son start upper secondary school in middle of August and I have the house and time to myself I will go back to 5:2. And - I will not beat myself up anymore for not having "it" in me to fast right now.
We will keep the HB diet dinners for 4 days a week though. Tonight fish in paper and I don't even like fish  .

Happens to a lot of us Wolfie so don't be discouraged, I went through a period of not feeling my head was in the right place either. What about doing 16:8 and skipping brekky in the meantime to give yourself a break?

Summer is really, really difficult for intermittent fasting. When my son is in school, It's a lot easier to limit my eating for sure.

You don't have far to go - enjoy your vacation (but not too much!!)

Sorry, Hairy Bikers diet cook books are for me the god given gift to 5:2 dieters. Never more than 500kcal in a portion, mostly less and the meals are quite tasty, although you might want/need to spice them up a bit

You know, this gives me hope I could get through a vacation in Sweden without fish. Both of my grandfathers were Swedish, and my family is very proud of its Swedish American heritage. But I never liked some of the food, especially my parents' favorites of pickled herring, fish pudding, gravlax and dill - not for me, thanks! My generation stuck with the baked beans, sausages, and the breads.

I'm a teacher on summer break and it's really hard for me to fast in the summer too. I have too many social engagements and when I don't, I'm not busy enough to keep myself distracted. So I have taken a break for the summer too. I still try to keep my eating in check and the good thing is that it is easier for me to exercise every day in the summer. So, I haven't really lost any weight, but I haven't gained any either. I will start fasting again when school starts and it's easier!
