15,000 a day, with stairs! That will make you fit! In my book @manderley, anything which registers on your pedometer or wrist band counts, slow or fast. :star: :star: :star:

Having to empty a 150 m2 (1650 sq ft ?) house full of 40+ years of souvenirs and stuff will keep you fit  The good news is everything is working, legs, arms, it's a complete and cheap work out !

@merlin our house is 386' above sea level and uphill of the stream that runs through the village, fortunately. The downside is that we are on the "wrong" side of the Eden for getting to Penrith and Carlisle and the A686 is closed at our nearest bridge, so a bit of a detour along narrow, winding roads with possible deep water across to get to the bigger shops. Village shops are staying stocked up. Electrics, phones and broadband were OK, we did lose water pressure for a few hours on Monday.

It does kind of put paid to Christmas spirit when you see all the destruction to places you visit regularly though, whether it is Carlisle, Keswick or Ullswater.

I am still getting my steps done; inspired by the thought of dog-walkers who have to get out no matter how bad it is!

Ten days to go; and yes I am planning to walk on Christmas morning, and please Santa let me have a crisp bright day with no water, ice or snow on the roads and no strong winds so I can drive to somewhere not too boggy and climb a fell.

So far the score is:

12,684. 11,337. 13,754. 16,364. 12,296. 13,965. 11,854. 10,408
14,221. 15,156. 10,567. 10,628. 12,003. 13,717. 10,594

I got so fed up of day after day of heavy rain that yesterday I forked out on a pair of real farmers wellies. That should fix it. Stayed dry today.

I so want to reduce my working hours to walk for life. I shall walk 24th to 28th, then I'm up to Lancs to host my Mum and family.
@Barbarita I ordered all my Xmas gifts last week from local Lakes producers.
Grateful for your determined threads, you help me in many ways. Take care Lx

Yes, walking at a slow pace still counts for steps. :-)

Fitbit says I've averaged 10,097 per day this month, So I'm more or less on track
