Why do the scales show an increase when I've been so good?

I have been on 5:2 for 18 months after watching Michael Mosley's TV doc. Essentially I lost one stone (13st 2 to 12st 0) over 9 months and then last Summer I stopped loosing further weight in spite of sticking to my former eating habits while reducing between June to October of 2014. Since last October the weight is now creeping upward relentlessly and I am back to 12 st 7 . I have been eating 'normally' i.e. biscuits with my coffee, cake and scones with my tea, trifle with my dinner. The point is, I ate like this whilst I was reducing....but now it doesn't seem to work. On fast days I am always below 600 Kcals and usually just 500. Has my body adjusted its Kcal requirement downwards ? If so, this is a disaster as I am back where I started and have to eat less than before just to maintain. Dear oh dear !
