Hi everyone!

New to this forum but not new to 5:2, been doing it for the past 9-10 weeks or so and seeing amazing results!

Also, sorry for the title, I wanted to keep it vague for the squeamish yet topical enough so you know what you're clicking into

28 year old female, overweight by about 15 pounds, started a new healthier lifestyle some time ago and introduced 5:2 9-10 weeks ago, along with a new exercise routine.

Periods have always been like clockwork, to the hour I'd know when I was due. However last month my period was 6 days late and this month it was four days early!

Do you think this might have something to do with the fasting? Would be interested to hear your thoughts!

Laura

Here I am!

Yes, weight loss (rather than fasting particularly) can cause problems with hormone changes because oestrogen is a hormone that is stored in fat cells and as they release their fat so too is the oestrogen. There is a thread about it with more information: post79504.html

That's a really interesting post, but I guess it's more aimed at women whose periods worsen/get heavier when fasting than the periods suddenly becoming irregular. I might mention it to my GP next time I'm in with her but no doubt she'll strongly advise against 5:2...

Thanks a million for your help!
