A model to predict your future weight loss

The past two weeks I have done some analysis on the results of the questionnaire. The analysis is almost finished and the results will be published on this forum soon (just need to find some time to do some writing). Meanwhile, as a by-product, a dynamic model has been developed that estimates the weight loss that could be expected from the calorie reduction when using 5:2. This model is now available (see below).
It would be interesting to get two types of responses from users of the model.
1: Does the program work well as far as the technical side is considered? This is a website and program that I used for the first time, so please report any ‘bugs’, strange outcomes or other technical issues.
2: How well does the program work in terms of estimating your personal weight loss? Please report how the estimates compare to your actual weight loss using 5:2. Please report the level of under- estimation or over-estimation. As this is a simple model using only standard formulas for reduction of calories for ‘average’ people we would expect differences between estimate and actual results. Please also report possible explanations in your personal situation for a difference between the estimates and your results. Things like "Since I changed to only one meal on a fast day, I see improved results", or "I do have an occasional binge and I did not include that in my calories eaten on feed days". Just try to enter your personal data as precise as possible, because only that will produce results that can give an indication of possible additional effects from variables as having longer periods of fasting on fast days and changing to more healthy food on feed days. These things are not (yet) in the model, so if they have an influence, they should result in a difference between the estimates and the actual results using 5:2.

Have fun!

Progress spot on! Looks like I really need to take another look at my normal day caloric intake to continue making the progress I did in the first couple of months. :like: :)

How do I activate it once I've input the required data?

Jejum you hit the run simulation key top left of the screen. P-JK. I have only just started but it made me think about where I might be this time next year!

really cool thing but I know its a pain but I work in lbs, stones, inches etc. I've decided to put the goals into my diary and see if I achieve them and will let you know how I get on. I am shorter than most people so can be an interesting variable

Actually does anyone know if there is an app to access this forum other than using your browser on your phone?

Super impressed by your model. I've just hit the 20 week mark on the diet and am only 0.5 kilos heavier than predicted! Well done

That's a really fascinating calculator - thank you for posting that!

I had to guess my daily calories as I don't count at all but my guess must have been accurate as I came out within 0.5kg of my real weight. Then I got to wondering what would have happened if my daily calories were a bit less.........mmmm!!! Yes, I would have been at target by now.

I actually weighed 3kg less than the model predicted after 8 months. Surprising!

I just had a look to see how my 16:8 + 6:1 diet might work out, it matches my first 6 weeks accurately but shows it will take nearly 6 months to reach my goal whereas Libra says just another 2 months to goal. It will be interesting to see which is right!

@P-JK If I put in a lower calorie count or higher activity with this I run into the too low BMI problem, this causes an error message. I wonder if it's possible to prevent the error message but just stop the prediction at the point where the predicted weight hits the BMI cut off? So the users still sees a graph but it doesn't extend to the full year?

How did you put in 16:8 as opposed to 5:2?

Just set the number of fast days to zero and put in your average calorie intake for the feed days!

Yes, the model should work in this way. Just remember that it will only predict the effect of your daily reduction in calories. No additional effect of having a fast for a longer period of the day is estimated.

Why the program produces an error message on some values is still a mystery. However, changing them a little bit might stop the problem (for instance enter '799' or '801' for calories on feed days). It is not related to the BMI cut-off.

Thanks Jan for sharing this modelling tool with us!
This is exactly the type of tool I like to use..... the only thing I need to review is what the tool says about my BMI as it appears to 'run' differently to what this 52fast diet website states.

Will have a look tomorrow in more depth and then drop you a note

again, well done!
