New health blog

A good selection of the UK doctors, and other expert commentators on the state of the official health advice that we are subjected to, has just set up a new blog called

http://WWW.HealthinsightUK.org

which I found out about on Dr Malcolm Kendrick's website.

Briffa, Kendrick, Harcombe and several others unfamiliar to me are contributing - looks hopeful!

Thanks Pete, will read it later.

I've read all the people you have mentioned, in fact it was Zoe Harcombe's book that started me on my weight loss two years ago by pointing me in the right direction -low sugar natural foods etc.
I'm off to find a place on here to have a winge.

Yes, but that is when you are actually fighting cancer.

Take a look at Fatdog's low-carb veg thread and you will find lots of ideas to keep below 50g, 40g and lower carb. She started her WoE with extremely low-carb and has only recently increased it to 70g or less. I would think if you are a meat-eater it would be alot easier to acheive. :)

Thanks Betsy. I have just increased mine (I'm now averaging around 95g-100g) as I was starting to get worried about how much fat I was taking in as I'm keeping my protein levels low, as MM recommends. It feels like a bit of a tightrope though!

Well! blow me down with a feather! I have been banging on about this (highish total cholesterol levels not being linked to heart disease, in fact the opposite being true) to my hubby for ages and ages and trying my best to keep him off Statins: as they certainly didn't do him any good when he tried them the first time and the doctor seemed hell bent on persuading him to have another go. Now I have more ammunition, thank you Pete!
