Inflammatory arthritis

Hi,
I am trying 5:2 to see if it helps my arthritis symptoms in any way, I don’t really need to lose much weight, it’s more about seeing whether this could be a sustainable way of managing my symptoms.
However, as well as inflammatory arthritis, I also have fibromyalgia and quite a bit of fatigue from time to time.
Is there anyone on here who has tried 5:2 with either rheumatoid (or similar) arthritis, or fibromyalgia? Or both?

Hi @Ruthr

I think we have had forum members with these conditions, but maybe they are not around any more.

I would recommend you speak with your arthritis health specialist for their advice with regard to fasting. Some forms of fasting may well be useful, or at least do no harm, but it would be best to get medical advice. If you don't need to lose weight, you may need to eat more in non-fasting days too.

Good luck! :clover:

There’s been quite a few articles about inflammatory conditions and certain types of food. I wish you luck with fasting.

From a quick Forum search there seem to be only a few articles here. There are however a very large number of fasting related articles from a Google search for "arthritis and fasting" and "arthritis and fibromyalgia and fasting".

Here are a few of potential interest from the first search:

https://www.drmcdougall.com/health/educ ... arthritis/

https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/he ... -diet-food

http://www.freedomyou.com/improved_rheu ... omyou.aspx

Many of the links reference specific studies which are often worth reading but can be a bit challenging. And as is most always the case you'll need to experiment for yourself to identify what works. Good luck.

Thanks for the links. I will follow up. It’s my third fast day today. No added symptoms or fatigue so far. Feeling pleased.
