Why don't you think about doing something but with a modern twist? Deconstructed recipe's are always a talking point. Two here for you. Deconstructed lemon meringue pie and deconstructed black forest cake.

Great ideas, thanks so much everyone. I will spend some time reading through them all and then the fun part experimenting with them all. The dinner is in a couple of months so plenty of time to try lots

@Merlin you are SO right about arctic roll not tasting nice now. I bought some last year having told the children how much I loved this rare treat when I was child. We all ended p scraping it into the waste disposal. Yuck!

As I've said about many things, clearly the stuff that made a lot of these things taste good was the 'bad' stuff that they've taken out. Bah Humbug.

Yes @Winsome I found that with Golden Nuggets. Used to LOVE them as a child, when I saw they'd brought them out again I was so excited. What a disappointment, so sweet and awful!

HOWEVER, BUTTERSCOTCH ANGEL DELIGHT LIVES!!! Give in to this great taste sensation!

Ginger Bean

The butterscotch delight sounds great but I don't remember having that in Australia.

Wasn't warmed double chocolate fudge cake served with icecream all the rage back then, or am I thinking of the 80's and 90's?
