Aldi's Lobster tails

Aldi will be selling Lobster tails (2 in a pack I think) in the freezer section just in December for $25 Australian $ which is good value. Even if they're tiny I'm going to defrost them, put garlic butter on them then throw them on the barbie ( what us Aussies call a BBQue, grill etc) I wonder if the aldis in other parts of the world will sell lobster. Keep an eye out and make some room in your freezer because the demand is high I was told.

We love Aldi! Have been today and got a few more things in for Xmas. We heard this week that the Co-op store in our town is closing down and re-opening as an Aldi so it will soon be on the doorstep - result! Not sure I would be adventurous enough to do lobster tails but enjoy!

Yes, it will be interesting to see where they're sourced from @MadCatLadyHopefully Australia!

I was just going to ask where they were from! Darn, no Aldi in WA yet!

No Aldi here, either. But crays are fished here, so you'd think you could get them. I was only just thinking, since there will only be me and the OH perhaps we could splash out. They are prohibitively expensive.

That's the reason I am concerned they may not be Aussie

Aldi's operates two different chains in the US. One is called Aldi's and sells extremely cheap, odd, off brand foods full of trans fat and additives. The other is my beloved Trader Joe's which sells healthier upscale fare at great prices. TJ's had those two frozen lobster tails a few weeks ago. But our local markets sell live Maine lobsters for no more than $8/lb, too.

Wow that's so cheap @peebles! I'm definitely going to visit Maine one day! Even though Australia is surrounded by oceans our lobsters are i think are around $70 a kilogram.

Yes, Tasmanian crays are all exported to Japan and China. we can't afford to eat them, unless you have a tinny and a cray fish pot and you can catch them yourself.

Juliana
please, please have a lobster tail for poor old me. As Debs said, Western Australia doesn't have Aldi. Tried about 10 years ago to bring it over and they are still trying. Must be a slow camel coming from the East! (LOL)
