Hi Caroline, did you lose all that weight purely by doing 5:2?
Thanks

Hi @ridingwood I lost the first 24kg with just 5:2 and the next 11kg using 16:8 but with at least one low calorie day (under 1000cal)a week and at the same time keeping carbs under 150g per day all the time. I adopted the new regimen on holiday in the summer and liked it so much I carried on with it (see my blog for details).

I've just seen your new photos Caroline & you look fabulous!
Have you found that your skin has also reduced with you? & are you doing any exercises? I fear being older than you that my skin will never catch up with my body as I lose more weight. :frown:

Surprisingly, my skin is shrinking, albeit more slowly than the rest of me. If I stand up really straight the 'apron' disappears ;-). I have hopes that the chicken neck effect won't get too much worse as I'm intending to start maintenance once I've shifted the last 2kg.

Keep your hopes up that your skin will also shrink. I didn't think that at 54 years I'd have such a good result. Whether it's the fasting or the coconut oil, or just luck, I can't tell you though!

Thanks Caroline you must be very pleased. I will keep up plastering on my coconut oil  it certainly is a wonderful moisturiser.

Caroline,
When I first joined this forum in 2013, I was just learning about fasting, and you mentioned low carb and I had a horrific reaction to it - because I did not understand at the time what it was. So I continued to follow my doctors (very poor) high-carb, low-fat advice and did 5:2 fast. I lost some weight -about 30 pounds, I have about 90 to lose- but I was hungry ALL the time and finding it very difficult not to overeat, which played havoc with the blood glucose numbers, so the fasting went out the window. The 30 pounds + 10 more came back on within about six months and all I could think of was your before and after pictures. I thought I'd have to look into this more. So thanks to you, I looked into low-carb high-fat through dietdoctor.com, through many other resources and have vastly improved my diabetes, reducing my medicine significantly, losing some weight but the missing piece for me has been consistent fasting. Now, again thanks to you, I re-read your success story and things are moving along nicely. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your kindness, your professionalism, your patience, your sharing of information, and your story, because they are what really helped me discover what will work for me which is a low-carb high-fat diet and intermittent fasting - as recommended in the recently published "The Obesity Code" by Dr. Jason Fung. But you guys were there first. Thank you... to you, to Moogie, to all of the other admins and members who have been so helpful in reforming this couch potato into a real person again. You were all ahead of the game 3 and 4 years ago. I truly believe the world is learning from the collective experience of all the people here on FastDay and that is what pushed forward the social media, grassroots move towards better health through fasting, eating real food and low carb nutrition. 10,000 thank yous!

I'm so glad to hear you've had such a great result from combining LCHF and IF (I really like Dr Fung's book too) and I'm pleased that I've been able to contribute in some small way to getting you on the road. But YOU did all the hard work so many, many congratulations to you for working your way through to find your right way of eating (which is not an easy thing to do) and here's to your continued success. I hope we'll see you in the maintainers tent very soon! :-D
