Wendyjane and lizbean,it's so good to hear that it is possible for us shorties to lose weight weight this way.
Did you stick to 500 cals.?
I think maybe I should be eating less but can't do it
I do manage on nonfast days to eat around 1400 or so.

Hi, @Sarahg. I generally eat less than 500 calories on fast days. I aim for 350, but don't measure or count calories at all, and I believe sometimes my total is 400 or 500 instead.
Don't say "can't do it." Say "haven't yet done it."
In any case, even if you decide that fast days will be 1/2 TDEE days (700 calories, so a modified fast), you will still lose weight if you don't overdo it on the other days.

Thanks wendyjane
For my two fasts this week I havnt counted but wasn't hungry all day so are very little...just half an apple and teaspoon yogurt ,then dinner.i think it would have been well under 500 .
Finally I am loosing, not much but at least it's coming down.i think being short means we lose less .
But even one pound loss shows on my clothes.

Hello all short people,
it is nice to have a thread of our own. Long, long time ago at school I was 159,5 cm. According to a 'converter' I am 5.23294 feet.
I tell people I am 160 cm, rounding it off for ease. But I might have even shrunk since school times. One time I heard my boss at work describe me to someone that "she is that very little person" :frown: . I don't really care about my TDEE. But I do find that if I eat like other people I put on weight. So I often skip lunches and that seems to help. Just having coffee when others have their meal.
Cutting off half meter of Jeans is commonplace for me. I do find wonderful shoes on sales, though.
I haven't been skipping lunches recently, because I just finished my Advent fast and Lent is not far away. I am putting on weight. Not much, but some. Low carbing also helps a lot.

I was on holiday last week and the bedroom had beams 5ft 4in head height. I could wander around with a good 2inch clearance my poor niece at 5ft 6in had a few sore head bangs till she got used to it . However to avoid gaining weight I had to avoid eating lunch, she could eat as much as she wanted 3 meals a day. We win some we lose some. :like:

Hi, I'm a shortie too at 5'1".
I'm just weighting in at just under 130lbs. I started the 5:2 nearly two years ago and lost quite a bit of weight (nearly 2 stone).
However I did stop for six months whilst I started dating my new boyfriend, feeling all loved up and enjoying nights out involving booze and food. I ended up putting a stone back on. So I'm back on the 5:2. It's been my second week and I'm on my second fast tomorrow. Not struggling yet, but enjoying seeing the weight come off. My goal is 121lbs. So only 9 more to go but I have a feeling that this will be the hardest.

Why is it so difficult for shorties to lose weight? My TDEE is around 1500. Whilst my RMR is around 1200. Which is a diet in itself. I'm hoping that my classes of reformer Pilates will help me achieve this goal.

Can I join please and moan about how I never minded being 5 ft tall when I was young and lovely and 8stone wet through!
I'm now middle aged 10 stone and feel very frumpy. 5.2 is working though and I have lost a stone up to now. :like:
I do envy taller people that carry weight well.

I'm happy to join and have a bit of a moan. I'm 5'2 and do complain about being short and weight loss.

However, I am more comfortable during international travel than taller people. So there's a positive

Apparently there is no scientific evidence that short people find it harder to lose weight, and some of the lovely ladies here are proof of that! However, every gramme shows up exponentially it seems.
And I'm probably shrinking to add insult to injury!!

I am also just under 5"3 = 1.60m. I have to keep fasting just to be able to eat occasionally like my taller friends. I can't even understand how someone over 6ft can be overweight (my DH is 6"3), they can eat soooo much. I wonder if the hunger is proportionally bigger when you are 6ft tall. I must say I don't experience hunger often and eat mainly because I fancy it. Of course sugar is the biggest problem for me. If I eat some chocolate it is instead of a meal.
I really wish I was 5"6 or taller

Can I join this tent please? I'm 5' 0.5" (the half inch is really important - haha!) and 198lbs...definitely WAY over a healthy BMI range for my height so I do have quite a long way to go...
Great motivation to see that there are people here who are as short (or shorter) who have successfully managed to lose weight on this though :D

As I was walking the insomniac halls at the weekend I popped into this tent I saw @Debs @Madcatlady will look me in the eye at our London meet up. I'm not wearing heals on 11 July.

You'll be my height for a hug then Liz - in my world London and heels most definitely don't go together!
