Flamanette's Freedom

Well, today will be my first Fast Day on this new journey. I am well prepared to have liquids only through out the day -- loaded up my bag for work with lots of teas! Excited to be trying this new WOE. I forgot to weigh myself this morning, but I am considering not even weighing at all, and just letting my clothes, the way I feel, and other non-scale indicators be my guide. Undecided though on that one. I know roughly how much I weigh, so hopefully that will be enough to get started.

I am here for the long haul. I have to be. I have issues that I can no longer ignore. While nothing life threatening, it's quality of life threatening, so I've got to get my butt in gear. This is a new forum, a new method, and I am praying a new me will come out in the end!

Let my freedom from fat journey begin!! :clock: <-- time for a new me!

Well done on making a positive start..and i think clothes are by far the best indicator of how youre doing..i get on the scales less than once a week..in superdrug..if i had scales at home i'd have myself demented jumping on and off them! I always weigh after a fast for optimum results x

Well done and congratulations!

I am now a daily weigher. Avoiding the scale helped me balloon into the morbidly obese range, so now I weigh myself daily with strict instructions to myself that I'm not to let it make me nuts! I use the number as a reminder to be a bit more diligent today, or to congratulate myself on a job well done yesterday. But you have to be able to weather the temporary fluctuations good and bad that more often than not are just water weight. I actually have a graph of my weights, and I average all of the numbers in a week to come up with my "official" weight for the week and loss for the week.

Just remember that when you get hungry, distract yourself. The hunger will disappear in about 10 to 15 minutes, and then reappear in an hour or two. My favorite weapon to combat hunger is chicken broth.

Have a good first, fast day, Flamanette. I have just posted some words of advice to newbies on the Fasting Today thread. You sound very positive about this forum and this WOE (Way Of Eating) so I'm sure you'll do well. There is a wealth of friendship, fun and advice here, so you've found the right place to begin your weight loss journey!

Well it's 11am for me, and I am getting the rumbling tummy! I am drinking some hot herb tea, and I have some broth I can drink too if I need it. I just need to "deal" with rumblings for a little while (10-15 mins, right?) and I'll be past my first hurdle of the day!

it's time to be free of this fat body!

So I made it through the first fast. I went somewhat over the 500 cals for my meal, but only up to 636. Not too bad if you ask me! I went a bit heavy on the meat I used for my dinner, but I left the carbs alone and for that I am very happy! I stuck it out till dinner time, which I was not 100% sure I could do. I drank lots of liquids, some warm, to help fill me up.

So today I get to eat "whatever", according to the rules. But somehow, I don't feel right planning to eat "whatever". I want to eat healthy, I want to still cut the carbs...I don't want to ruin anything that got started by doing the fast yesterday, you know? Maybe that's the secret to how and why this works for so many ppl: you just don't want to ruin what you've accomplished by doing the fast/rest day, so you make sure that you eat good and healthy when you are on your eating day. I'll take it!

Well done for completing your first fast day. Don't worry that you went a little bit over the 500 cals.

While you can eat "whatever" you want, it's the amount that counts - especially if it's on the naughty side.

Good luck with your journey. This really is a great WOL.

 Hi @flamanette Well done on getting through your first fastday and worry not for going over the 500 cals
Its more important to get used to fasting first.
Yes today you can eat "whatever" you want but not however much you want and you're quite right this WOL does retrain our eating habits including more
healthier choices.
Pop into the "Low carbers tent" for great advice and tips for replacing our usual foods with replacements.

Totally bombed my second fast :curse:

Remind me next time to NOT make mashed potatoes, telling myself that I CAN only eat a half cup...and NEVER EVER make them with lima beans  what was I thinking??

If I had eaten correct portions of what I made last night, I would have come out at 600 cals...which I would have been happy with. But nooooooooo, I had waaaaay more taters and beans than I should have. So I am sure that I topped yesterday out about 1000 cals. Now, me, being the eternal optimist -- this is STILL and improvement as an over number of calories for a days worth of eating...

So...trying to decide whether to just scratch yesterday as being a fast day, and do it today instead. I think I can be more in control with tonight's planned meal for the family. Will see how my hunger is today.

OK, so after the BOMB of what was supposed to be my second fast day, I went on to have a successful, by-the-book fast day last Friday! Hooray! Sunday was a 3rd fast day, and sailed through with flying colors. Hooray again! Today is an eat day, and gosh darn it, I am NOT going to ruin last weeks efforts and eat like a crazy woman today

I will eat, I will enjoy, but I will stick to LC, which makes me feel better anyways! So this is now my second week into the plan, and I am actually very pleased with how it's going so far. Aside from my mistake with the mashed potatoes last week, all has actually gone well.

TTFN, off to work!
