In a bid to learn a bit more about our community's fasting habits, motivations and other interesting foodie/fasting stuff we're going to be running a poll each week and would appreciate it if you could take a moment to cast your vote on the matter!

For this week's poll, we are asking:

Which areas of FastDay do you find most useful?
Feel free to reply to explain your answer further, or if none of the answers are close enough for you.

Over to you!

I was aware of the different sections of the website but I've always just concentrated on the forum. That recipe section looks pretty good though, might be some inspiration there for my next fast day so thanks!

I chose forum, but I actually find the blog section equally as useful.

I picked forums but I think if I were just starting, I'd find other sections useful, too. Tbh I've really just started exploring around the new site...

Unfortunately, the Recipe section is almost usable to an American, because just about every recipe seems to call for ingredients we can't get here. Those individual Indian spices and some condiments, etc. Then there are the things that are called something completely different. Courgettes? Aubergines? Rocket? etc.

And the measures aren't the ones we use, so unless someone has a food scale, they are out of luck.

The recipe page also displays so poorly on my Nexus 7 tablet that I can't find any of the recipes on it, and I use my tablet in the kitchen for cooking. <sigh>

Somewhere in the reference section, there was a "dictionary" entry that explained the different UK vs. US terminology. I found it very helpful when I first started. As for the measurements, well, if the US had converted over to the metric system in 1984 like we were supposed to, it wouldn't be an issue... :)
I found a food scale & measuring stuff in both units, so I can figure out most recipes if needed. Lots of workarounds available.

Hi Moogie
As a new joiner (pre the new website) I read everything, it took me weeks on end but set me up well for success. Today it's the forum and tracker I use most though I dip into the library time to time for reassurance and reminders. Wondering how we are advised of any new library material, is it in the newsletter? What's the buzz page just goes to a white screen for me .... presumed this was in development

I made another pass though the recipes, and still find myself daunted by frequent mention of Supermarket-specific ingredients and branded products that are not available in the US. I don't know what to substitute because I have no idea what they are.

The other big problem for me with all recipes I find on the web and in books is that it is very tough to put together a mix of foods that provide enough protein. Creating a protein deficit a few times a week may produce more loss of lean muscle mass than is healthy. The over emphasis on vegetarian recipes here makes that a real problem.

So I am still looking for a recipe resource that would suggest new useful menus for my fast days.

As a matter of interest, how much protein are you looking for on a FD? And in what sort of serving? (E.g., 1-3 meals of X calories per meal.) Would there be a maximum carb count for the FD?

I voted for the forum and my tracker which are the parts of FastDay which I use most. I hadn't taken much notice of some of the others until this weekly poll thread made me aware of them, so I thought I would take a look. The fasting library is so interesting and I'm slowly reading through the maintenance part atm. This is so helpful Moogie, I'm really impressed at the clear way you have put the information together. A big thank you from me, I now wish I could have voted for three options.

Hi Moogie, it is a shame that we only had two options. This is such a great site with an unbelievable amount of info. Each area has a different purpose and is therefore valuable at different times. The forum and tracker are ongoing tools whereas the other areas are used at specific times so they are not really comparable.
I am sorry I could not tick every box.
