HO HO HO. not many weekends to Christmas believe it or not!

I managed the Christmas challenge for 2013 and 2014 as many of you know but some work commitments wont allow me to this year. Who would like to manage it? .. I usually start about October.

Hi @Juliana.Rivers - As CM says, due to immediate demand I think I may have curtailed the Xmas challenge to a 13 Nov start date with our Spring into Fall challenge in the meantime. We have missed you on the forum recently.. .. good luck with your heavy workload... I need to manage that too, so any learning is very welcomed. :clover:
I'm sure someone will come forward to lead the Xmas challenge .... so you can enjoy x

Thanks Candice, Lizbean.
The Christmas challenge is always fun to get involved in.. Its a lovely time of year .. the spirit of Christmas cheer, New years. all of that and everyone seems to "need it".. maybe even moreso those in OZ or NZ where we are starting to head to the beach and want to look good in shorts or swimwear! The bulges show more in the summer weather lol

I remember the happy posts when people made their target. Im guesssing a lot of old-timers (on forum for >2 years. not old haha) are in maintenance but theres plenty of newcomers needing that motivational boost.

bumping this up... remember feb 2014 the end of the 2013 first Christmas challenge when the whole group lost 243 kg!!!

5-2-diet-chat-f6/register-here-to-joing-the-69ers-club-t8676.html

here is "that thread" .. .was wondering how many of those who joined the challenge in October 2013 are still on the forum or in maintenance and doing well.. let us know!!!

EXERPT FROM THAT THREAD...
This is the official thread for the New Year Club (originally called Christmas club) on 5:2 fastdiet forum.

If you are one of the 150 in the club.. say hi in this thread so i can update you in this post number 1 and can get an accurate group total loss. Trying to do a full update by mid Feb so that we can exclude any Christmas excesses. Hoping for more greens by then. Next to your name i put in the last date you updated in blue.

WEIGH INS FOR CHRISTMAS CLOSE SATURDAY FEBRUARY 15 MIDNIGHT.

We have officially extended the club to MID FEB or as soon as we can push 100 people over their target line.

It all started on October 1 when I thought that it would be good for me to set myself a mini goal in preparation for Christmas cheer. On another thread of mine i got talking about being in the early 70,71,72k zone and I had my eye on a big goal for Christmas/New year this year, that is, of getting ]lower than 70kg. (11 stone)

yes.. entering into the 60s zone which for me would be stunning. To actually no longer be 70k or more is almost daunting. Long time for me and I know i can do it.

In your personal pledge you agree to
- eat nutritionally
- follow your style of intermittent fasting to the T
- never under-eat for extended periods
- sleep well
- stay relaxed
- smile lots
- treat yourself to the occasional great meal
- and know that there is always 2014 to get to your personal mini weight goal if you don't quite make it by Jan 31 2014. We can only try our best.

Im excited. 150 members all keen to get their bodies and minds ready for the new year

Now is where the hard work starts all of you....

thus far including a start at summarizing total weight loss since people joined the tent .. i haven't finished with everyone's data so please be patient if you havent seen your data. Make sure its in your signature and it will be slightly easier

btw its not a competition about raw numbers as everyone has different amounts to lose when looked as a percentage of their current total weight. just nice to know that weight is being lost in the tent.

Going for 250 kilograms loss for the whole group by Jan 31 with a new extension to Feb 15 so that we can buy more time and recoup any damage done by Christmas and New Year festivities

current tally as at Jan 26: 240kg weight lost

(please advise if ive doubled up on any one and have omitted you from the official list when replying to you. sometimes hard to keep up. )

(If you think you should be GREEN) and not showing us such, please message me as i may have missed your post or signature update)

(Green means the member has reached their Christmas day goal already and are on "maintenance" or if they have further to go to overall target weight then onwards and downwards - let me know if ive missed you as a "green achiever"

36Out of the original 150 member list have gone green!

I was member 146. I've exceeded my original target and maintained for around a year. I would like to lose a little more now, but I think that my metabolism is shot. I hold onto my current weight whatever steps I take. Fortunately, I seem to be able to prevent any upward moves.

What I do find is that people that reduce weight with 5:2 and maybe go up a bit, reach a point they never exceed again. And that, in itself is wonderful!

happened to me

Yes, that whole thread is an epic tale of very keen fasters.. as to your last question, I am not sure as i havent been following like I used to . I am positive we just need some firing up to our ambition to get trimmer and healthier again. Theres a lot of very dedicated fasters in some online groups and no reason we cant make it on that facebook group.

I was member 68 and the Christmas Challenge definitely helped me to reach my goal. I've gone a bit lower since but wasn't fasting regularly, just mindful eating. Recently bad habits returned - second serves, more cakes/muffins if offered at work, more chocolate and ice cream after dinner and less intensive workouts. But I now have the knowledge about how to lose those 3-4kg quickly. If you only need to lose a couple of kilos then a challenge is not as much fun but I am definitely grateful to the one you organised @Juliana.Rivers!

@Juliana.Rivers I joined 30 Dec 2013 ....... so your amazing effort and all the conversations certainly spurred me on to success even if I did not sign up - I was trying to work out the basics! Forums constantly change and I think this forum is very healthy even if it goes quiet from time to time as life is like that..... what I like is people come back to say' hello I'm back' when it suits them, or I'm watching daily but not much to say at the mo.
Till 13th Nov to find our Christmas/new year cheerleader or it could be a team effort? ....... is everyone hiding under a bush.

If the Christmas Challenge does not start until November 14th then that is less than 6 weeks - week 6 would finish on Boxing Day. Is this long enough?

No its not so afetr a message online from a forum friend Ive decided to host it NOW! to start October 1 but you can pre register.

If one are already on the other challenge.. you can belong to both and you can speed up your weight loss .. well you know what i mean.. it cant hurt to be on both!
