Great job to you both @WarriorPrincess and @NYCNYC2013!

I'm staying on track. Having all sorts of fun with hormones -- I was expecting my period on Sunday, but instead I started getting hot flashes! we went out for sushi yesterday, at a place that makes their sushi rolls with less than half of the rice other places use. So I'm calling that good enough. Dinner was nice and low carb -- I roasted an eggplant in plenty of olive oil, and served the sliced with salami, whole milk mozzarella, olives and artichokes with melted butter and aioli from France.

I'm loving the recipes on dietdoctor.com. Most of the ones I've tried have really been excellent.

Today we just had breakfast of green salad with homemade vinaigrette (chopped shallot, mustard, apple cider vinegar and olive oil, plus salt & pepper), bacon and a swiss cheese omelet. I think tonight is either tacos on low carb tortillas or taco salads. Looking forward to some avocado!

I have to say, even though I'm not losing weight nearly as quickly as I'd like, the food is amazing. I'm never hungry until it's actually time for a meal and I'm eating real, whole, nutritious, unprocessed food. My nails and skin looks great, and I've actually stopped taking my antihistimines for my seasonal allergies. I normally get a runny nose if I forget two doses. I realized two weeks ago that I hadn't taken a dose in three days and I just decided to see how it would go. I haven't needed them. Weird!

@tracieknitsYes, I agree about the low carb food. I had always read about how I wouldn't be hungry blah blah blah I never believed it. I never thought I'd be able to go without snacking and wanting sugar all the time. I am so surprised to find it working. I can't believe I forget about food for awhile in between meals. With everything else I was always thinking about when I would be allowed to eat again.
I thought the weight would come off faster, too. I find the fasting helps me lose the weight more than just doing low carb.

yeah, I never believed it either!!! Go figure LOL

Maybe I should add some fasting back in. That might help.

I have had a few days break from the forum...

Reading the post a few above from nycnyc, I think stress and strong emotions can sabotage many a good intent for most of us! In whatever area of life.

After over a week of overindulging, particularly in the evening, I finally managed a day where I didn't... I did a (partial) fast until mid afternoon and then was able to eat according to hunger for the rest of the day, and avoid the processed foods. So I do feel pleased to have broken the pattern. Will it last tho?

I did have a look at the reference from cblasz, and found out I am an "Obliger" (though I think I have a fair bit of "Questioner" too - which has opposite characteristics........). That supposedly means that if I make public promises, I will stick with them.... Don't think the forum is public enough. I would need to tell my promises to people I see in daily life, but not sure they want to know - or I want to tell them - about my habits and how I want to change...

I still have a few posts to catch up on. Hope others are doing okay. :clover:

@Sassy1 - glad you haven't completely left us! I have to say that originally I thought I was an Obliger, but after listening to the podcast a lot, I've decided that I actually am a questioner. They say that questioners do things that they think are important and I often think that if there's a deadline or my boss is expecting it then it is important. But I don't always adhere strictly to the deadlines and I do question things I do a lot. But, even if you are an obliger, it doesn't necessarily have to be public accountability, it just has to be some sort of external accountability. They have a lot of suggestions for tricks you can set up for yourself! But, besides that, her book has a lot of strategies about building habits and not necessarily trying to change yourself or rely on willpower, but to change your environment/circumstances instead. Anyway, good luck!

It is supposed to rain this morning, so my friend and I cancelled our walk. I have a ton of things to do today, so I will try to get it in later. If not, we are going tomorrow instead anyway.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm definitely in the mindset of "I'm not going to worry about what I eat, because I'm really going to get back on track when I go back to work." I need to tread very carefully!!! This morning I did go for a walk with my friend and we did over 4 miles. On the way home, I stopped at McDonald's and just stuck with my unsweetened iced tea. My friend had said something about donuts, so I thought about stopping for a donut on the way home, but I talked myself out of that and had whole grain waffles with blueberries at home, instead! I've also been sticking to the eating window. Hopefully, I can control this enough for the next week or so!!!

@Cblasz, I took the quiz on the website that resulted in me being classed as an Obliger, but I had a lot of difficulty answering most the questions (working out what was most like me) - probably should have got OH to answer for me, probably knows me better!!

Re your situation: Despite thinking you are of the mindset of not worrying about what you eat, clearly you did very well when you went to Maccas (and afterwards)! And sticking to the eating windows is an achievement as well.

I am not sure where I am at, so - as per your advice - I am trying not to worry about it.

Hello,
Could I please sidle into this group at this late stage?!
I decided to come back to 5:2 last week as I'd just slipped over the 10st mark and my belly is not a pretty sight. I'm not even going near the scale (which seems to be stuck, ha!) until my clothes begin to unshrink themselves just a little bit.
Ultimate target is to get back to the 9st I was 3 years ago, but by the 4th September I'd like to be 9stone-something again, which is only 2 lb away.

So close and yet.....

Welcome @siamsa! Glad you found us!

Well, my weight was up 2/10 lb. this morning. Not terrible, but again I have to be careful. This week feels incredibly stressful already, with needed to prepare for both of my jobs starting. Also, it's a very long story, but I had to get a new washer and dryer over a month ago and it was a lot of work to get it delivered and installed and now that it is, it doesn't work, so I have to have another one delivered. They are supposed to expedite the delivery so I can get it this week, before I go back to work. But that has all been VERY stressful!!

I'm going to keep up my daily 3 mile walk this week, since it's the last week I'll be able to do it. I always walk somewhere beautiful in nature and it's really good for me. I'm going to miss it. (I plan to substitute with shorter walks throughout the day.) I think my eating windows will be off though, because I need to work on my classroom and that's going to take place from 10-3 or so each day. So I may have to eat before I go in and just bring a small snack. And of course I will be going out a little bit as I won't have much time to do that soon.

But, I'm sure I'll get through this next week and hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be back into the swing of my jobs and I'll be able to wash my clothes!!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hello,
Well I did a crap job this weekend! I'd been SO good, so it was bound to happen, I guess. I just completely derailed, carbs, booze, sugar, the whole thing. See, I had some drinks, and then I didn't want to be drunk, so I rationalized that I had to eat a big shake shack burger and cheese fries so that I would be ok! hahaha amazing how much I can rationalize.
Scale says I'm up 4 lbs, but of course that isn't really possible from one bad day, I'm sure it's water and stuff, so I'm fasting today and hoping to get right back on track!
Unrelated, I also have a cold now, so the tea and broth is good, but I'm debating cough drops on the fast. Probably too sugary.
Good luck to everyone!

Welcome @Siamsa!! I added you to the first post :-)

Glad to see you here @Sassy1 :-)

NYCNYC2013 - hey, we all fall off the wagon sometimes. the question is whether you will keep binging. Since you're fasting today, all is well. You're right that there's no way you gained 4 pounds of fat in 1 day. When you eat carbs after being low carb, what happens is that your body replenishes its glycogen stores. For each gram of glycogen your body stores, it can store up to 1 gram of water. Your liver and muscles can all store glycogen -- how much? I don't know. I hope you feel better though.

Ugh, @Cblasz I'm sorry about the washer saga. That must be so frustrating

I'm doing well. According to fitbit, I'm losing about 0.7 pound a week on my moderate low carb plan (most days are 40g or under, occasionally I go up to about 100g). I did just order new scales. Apparently the Aria scales have a reputation for being absolute rubbish. I'm so sorry I recommended them to anyone!!! But I am happy on the plan, happy with the food I'm eating and booze I'm drinking, so 0.7 will do. That's acceptable. :-)

Made it! Began the month at 11st 6.5, said I'd lose 3.5lbs. Today's weight 11st 3lbs.

Yesterday was a fast day, but this is a new lowest weight for this diet so all is good.

Apologies to the teachers here, but my little boy went back to school today - hurrah!

I'll miss having him around of course, but I won't miss making meals and snacks all day for his growing hungry body, and I won't miss having to work until midnight because I have to focus on someone else during the day. I wasn't even fasting today but I didn't think about food at all because I was so busy catching up on jobs. I've been avoiding the scales so far because I don't want to be disappointed, but today I certainly feel lighter mentally if not physically. :-D

Hi. I'm checking in for my third week (or is it fourth?) of this challenge. My average weight for last week was 99.1kg. I am so close but still so far from my target average weekly weight of under 99kg. I still have a little while to go.
Congrats to you, @Tracieknits as any loss is a good loss when you're trying to lose.
I have to give a big thank you to @Cblasz for introducing me to Gretchen Rubin. I have subscribed to her podcast and I am really enjoying it.

@Fat_Teacher - I'm so glad you like it! I think it's safe to say at this point that I'm addicted to the podcast! But it really has given me a lot to think about and I'm trying to apply a lot of what they say to my own life!

This schedule I'm on right now - eating a late breakfast, working on my classroom during lunch, and then starving when I leave there around 3, so make bad choices - is really not working out well! I've decided to try to fast today instead. Maybe that will be easier and undo some of the damage I've done! I'm also going to the laundromat today for the first time in about 20 years!! I haven't done any work for my college classes either. It is a very stressful time right now, but as they say on the happier podcast - "in a few weeks I'll be past this!"

Off to get my walk in. Have a great day, everyone!!
