Was wondering if anyone had some ideas for breakfast on fast days? you see on my work days I get in around 6 am and by then I have to eat something, this Friday will be my first fast at work, so I would really appreciate if anyone had any for a quick but filling breakfast?

huge thank you for any suggestions!

How about a frittata made the night before. Basically a baked omelette, eaten cold like a quiche (no pastry to bump up the calories though).
Add whatever you feel is appropriate, I would go for high protein foods like some ham (an ounce isn't going to break the calorie bank) added to it.

Hi Julieathome!

thanks for reply, the omelette sounds yummy, I have chickens so can use my own eggs lol!
I know this is going to sound thick on my part but when you say "baked" you mean pan fried, right? sorry! and thanks again!

Nope, I mean bung it in the oven in a dish the night before if time is of the essence in the morning. It also makes a nice lunch with salad on the side. Obviously it can be done normally as a fried one.
I find that baking it means you can make it really thick and 'solid'. On non-fast days I would load it with cooked potatoes, bell pepper, peas, bacon or ham, green beans (snap beans) etc. then when cold slice it and eat with lots of salad.

1/4 Cottage cheese on a slice of whole wheat toast (115 calories)

container of light greek yogurt with 1/2 cup blueberries( 145 calories)

couple of hard boiled eggs (140 calories)

Those are the few I tend to rotate thru, Im about 2 weeks into this, and have done 4 succesful fast days so far.

All the best from across the pond :)

If I want breakfast on a fast day (not very often) I scramble a couple of eggs and have 1 slice of toast spread with Marmite. I don't need to eat again until the evening. Another favourite is 100g of Greek yogurt and defrosted frozen berries. This is high protein and fibre and, again, keeps me going all day (along with drinks).

I find if I have creal for breakfast I'm hungry part way through the morning (I'm talking 'proper' porridge with soya milk and nuts or berries or a banana) so I sometimes have this for dinner instead.

I have got stuck in a bit of a rut with breakfast, I tend to find that porridge is such a good option that I haven't tried much else for a while. After all, it's quick, nutricious and fills me up (a very important quality).

Woke up to the lovely sunshine this morning and I just couldn't face a bowl of steaming hot porridge, I really fancied a smoothie but they aren't to diet friendly. Threw in some oats and swapped out some of the OJ for low cal cucumber though and I reckon it's a winner. It tasted lovely and I'm not too peckish even though lunch time is approaching.

I put the recipe with the calories on my blog in case you want to give it a go.
