For those of you who said you were interested, sign up here! @lovemyparrot, @carieoates. Besides not drinking helps the fasting. Good luck everyone!

Hi @rawkaren and everyone, I am IN. We had a little "trouble" finishing all the alcohol in the house yesterday - lol.
Best news for me is that hubby is in too, which will make it so much easier.

Good to see you back @PennyForthem.

Doing fine so far. But like MM said on tv today fizzy water is not very helpful with weight loss.
Filtered tap water with a wedge of lemon or lime for me.

Hi Everyone. It’s early days so I suppose everyone is doing fine. Might be a different matter when everyone is back to work! In case you needed an extra incentive, take a look at this article about alcohol doing permanent damage to your DNA https://www.reuters.com/article/us-heal ... SKBN1ES1N2.

I was out for a swanky lunch today. The type of place where you have a glass of champagne on arrival. I eschewed all nice drinks for a lovely glass of Seedlip and slimline tonic. Not sure if you can buy this in the US yet but it’s a zero alcohol, zero sugar spirit reminiscent of gin. You can find it on http://www.seedlipdrinks.com. I prefer the spice to the garden variety. The other go to is botonique which is a fizzy dry drink. It does not taste like wine but wine drinkers like it as a substitute. Many people I know find it hideous but I love it. If you buy it don’t expect it to taste like wine. It’s quite herbal and can be found on http://www.botonique.com. Ocado also sell both and I think Tesco does too.

Cheers!

Hi @rawkaren - its going quite well for me so far, sleeping better too, which is great. I don't think we can get the N/A drinks you mention here (although I have tried to find them in the past). We do have this now:
http://www.drysparkling.com I have tried the ginger (its a bit sweet for me strangely enough) and I am thinking about the cucumber and lavender - we will see.
Good luck everyone.

Hi, I’m doing dry January too but drinking fizzy water  why is it bad for weight loss?! Arghhhh!

Tempted last night by half an opened bottle which has been in the fridge since before new year. Helped as I happened to be fasting. Closed the kitchen and glad I resisted temptation!

I’d be interested to hear why MM said that. Did he mean soda water and mineral water or flavoured waters?

That’s really interesting. Only recently did I have some sparkling mineral water (to make it a bit more interesting) instead of flat tap water but I think I’ll revert back to flat. I’ve made some iced tea on fasting days, with added pieces of fruit and cucumber, but as it’s only two days a week I think I will stay with plain water. Anything to lose recently gained weight faster!

Good luck on your 'dry' journeys, everyone. I don't really drink enough alcohol (unless on holiday) to make it worthwhile stopping, so I shall admire your progress from the sidelines! Nice to see some of the 'old timers' back, @PennyForthem, @rawkaren and @carieoates. At the end of this month it will be five years since I joined the forum - one of the best things that I ever did!

A belated Happy New Year to you folks!
Gosh, five years on and we’re still here, fabulous.
I drink a small bottle of red wine a week, you know those tiny 18fl.oz. things, telling myself it’s to help my blood etc.
My weight is currently in the 80kg sadly, size 20 now, not good.
Hoping for better times as ever.
Onwards and er, downwards :like:

A bit of inspiration for the weekend (maybe) from the latest Dry January U.K. email.

How are we all doing? I have a big ‘do’ on Thursday. The sort of dinner where wine pairings are involved. Stressing about it already [incompatible emoji removed]
