Plateau broken....hopefully

I have been doing 5:2 for 6 months and had lost about 12 pounds during the first 4-5 months. I was happy with this as I felt good and it was easily maintainable.

However, for the past 6 weeks I had been stuck and not lost anything. I know 6 months is a crucial point where you often plateau so I tried not to worry or give up.

Last week I could only fast on one day due to other engagements and AT LAST I think the plateau has broken  I got on the scales this morning and have lost 3 pounds. At Last :like:

I hope my experience can help some of you as I have received so much help and inspiration on this forum,

Fasting today and feeling very positive. Good luck everyone. Stick at it. Sometimes it is slow going but it is a way of life and very manageable. I want this weight to come off and stay off so I'm in it for the long haul. Almost at my healthy bmi now

I too am STUCK! I even did 4:3 last week but to no avail. My clothes feel loser and I feel lighter but the #%**¥# scales haven't moved! I am sticking with it and fasting tomorrow and Friday this week. Thank you for posting soonaddsup, it really helps to know I am not alone in this.

I'm on my plateau currently and have been for 8 weeks, very frustrating. Still sticking with it though. I had a few days off exercise and just ate 'normally', back on 5:2 this week so fingers crossed!! I struggle to get near my TDEE as I've been 'dieting' for so long. Good luck.

I think as you get closer to your goal weight it is harder statistically to lose weight. The other thing sometimes is that some people don't eat enough so their body holds onto the weight... Good luck and glad you got through the plateau... Come and remind me when I hit mine LOL

Interesting...more anecdotal evidence accumulating that eating more on feast days can improve weight loss (within reason). May not work for everyone but certainly quite a few people reporting this.

Congrats soonaddsup :star:

Many people have observed that eating a lot more than usual once or twice a month is helping their weight loss!!!

I hope this happens to me soon, been on it for 24 weeks but lost pretty much all of it in the first 10 weeks and since then have been going slightly up and then down again since April! Frustrating now seeing as I weigh the same I did 4 months ago :(

Yes me too Bondi Brit. Today I have eaten a small natural yogurt, a teaspoon of coconut butter, and drunk nettle tea and a decaf black coffee instead of my usual Monday fast. I need to change some small thing to break out of the routine my body has adjusted to since starting in January.

I've been on a plateau for 4 weeks. Please tell me it won't last for 8 weeks. I have tried eating more - sort of accidentally lost it. anyway onwards and hopefully downwards.
