After two lovely fasts on monday and thursday and excessive eating the rest of the time i'm wondering if its worth doing a half fast today? 12 hours from 7om yesterday to 7pm today but then a normal dinner and a drink. Is this woth doing? I have already recieved 3 eggs for tomorrow! Or should a fast day be cut calories and a feast day be regular calories theres no point having a day of just half the calories? Happy easter everyone :) x

Any calorie restriction is a restriction from the point of view of weight loss.

It probably isn't known what health benefits may or may not arise from a given fasting period, and I was confused by your 12 hours which looked like 24 !

I am trying something similar: 2 days of 500 calories as normal and one day under 1000 calories (no breakfast, so complete fast (apart from drinks) from after dinner previous night until lunchtime next day - usually late lunch (14:30 or so)). I'm trying this as its less restrictive than 4:3 (which I used to do on occasion) and fits in with my natural aversion to breakfast! On my fast days I have just tea, fruit/herbal tea and black coffee throughout the day, and an evening meal. So far, so good.

It would be a good day for me to fast until dinner time, around 6 pm. I had an eating binge yesterday (I blogged about this, if you are interested). So not eating for 24 hours should set up system back on track.

I often do that and it works for me. I do two proper fast days on Monday and either Thurs or Fri but on the inbetween days I often go from the previous nights supper at around 10pm through to my evening meal with just fluids. OK, so it sounds not unlike an extra fast day, but I don't cut back to 500C or give any great thought to what I have on those days. I don't beat myself up either if I get to about 4pm and decide I need something more solid than a bouillon!

I know that the theory behind the 8 hour eating window and not being able to overeat in that time could be blown out of the water quite easily by most of us on here when we first started, but once you have a few fasts behind you it does seem to work as you get so you don't like that bloated and overfull feeling so you get the relaxation of eating what you fancy but you do tend to eat much more moderately.

Anyway, give it a shot. We're in it for the long haul not a quick fix. You can always return to the drawing board if it doesn't do it for you.
