Vitamins on Fast Days

Sorry if this question is too nerdy! I've heard in several places that it's better to take vitamins with food. On fast days, is it better to wait until dinner (if you wait until then to eat) to get those vitamins, or is it better to take them on an empty stomach?

Hi LibbyG. I take my daily vitamin in the morning. It doesn't seem to bother my stomach at all. Best of luck to you.

Hi Libby by rights you shouldn't need to take any vitamin supplements if you're eating a balanced diet.... You just pee them out so make the kidneys work harder!
Some people feel nauseous if they take them on an empty stomach so just see how you go.
Good luck & welcome to the forum.

Hmmm...I tried to post but it didn't seem to take...I'll try again... :)

Fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) should be taken with a meal.

I've recently started taking Eskimo-3 fish oil (2 capsules each morning, come fast or feed), to try to tackle my persistent eyelid inflammation (I'm still waiting for the low-dose aspirin that I plant to combine with it - I had to answer a load of medical questions before amazon would ship it!) No problem taking the capsules, but it's too early to say if they are helping with the inflammation.

Thanks, guys! I take a B-complex because I'm a vegetarian, but it looks like that one's water soluble, so I'll continue to take it in the mornings.

I take vit D in fish oil during the winter. I reckon the fish oil is enough "food" for the vit D!

Hi Izzy, the pills I ordered are 75mg which is 1/4 of the pain relief dose, I was thinking of taking 1/2 pill per day. I don't want to risk a brain haemorrhage while doing my HIIT! But then this may be too little to make any difference...

Thanks for the tip about how long it takes for omega-3 (DHA in this case) to make a difference, at least it doesn't matter then that the aspirin has taken 10 days to arrive (or not, yet). I want to find a solution to the eyelid inflammation and it seemed worth a try, since nothing else I have tried has worked.

I'm feeling confused about the whether to take vitamins and supplements or not ..and then what to take.. Currently I take a multivitamin and an omega 3,6,9 capsule a day and I take them every day fasting or not ..however I'm 49, perimenapausal and the family are starting to reap the impact of my hormonal fluctuations, I would love some advice about what to take :?:
