Star ratings for fasts

This is for Moogie,

Hi Moogie,

I have been so impressed by Wildmissus and her inspiring band of followers who have been doing 36 hour fasts, well done troops, and I thought it might be nice if there could be some sort of small achievement noted on their profile, a bit like becoming a 'faster for life'to highlight their achievement. I have done a 24 hour fast and I notice some hardcore folk have even done a 48 hour fast, phew!

So, I thought a star rating (or a thumbs up icon or something else) might be a nice little addition/incentive perhaps 1 star for 24 hours, 2 stars for 36 hours and 3 stars for 48 hours. Any more than 3 stars would indicate death by starvation!

I realise that this would have to be done on a trust basis but hey, we are nice people on here, why would any one wish to be devious?

Anyone else think this a nice idea? Good,

Ballerina x

Not too far from the truth sometimes, especially when I do my chicken impersonation whilst feeling 'peckish' and roast lamb makes me go all 'sheepish' hee, hee !

Bit dismayed to read this, and hope we are not going down this path. Too much like diet clubs encouraging the fastest, biggest weight loss etc. I suppose in our case it would be the people who fast for the longest would be the winners...not a good idea, IMO. For most of us this is a personal journey of small triumphs and we are all winners. Fasting for longer than 24 hours is a personal decision as is water fasting only, or choosing teas or coffees or juices. I don't like the idea of being seen to be "better" at this WOE, the longer one chooses to fast, or how one chooses to do it. Don't get me wrong, I think what the 36-ers are doing is great, but great for them ! It will not suit everyone, and most importantly it will not be suitable for everyone. Pleas just let a personal sense of achievement suffice and no awards or stars please!!

I agree the above 2 comments - i like this because we are not being compared to anyone else and it's not just about the weight loss

I would hate this to become some sort of fasting competition

OK everybody, it was just an idea, obviously a bad idea, sorry, didn't want to encourage competition and I do see where you are all coming from, hope I'm forgiven.

I get what you wanted but I also agree that it's not your best idea, IMO no forgiveness required aren't we all allowed ideas?

Seconded. Sometimes we just get slightly carried away, exuberant and delighted in peoples progress and I think this is one of those times. Enthusiasm and cheering others on is no bad thing, so don't be sorry!

Thank you Ballerina and Dhana. I can see where you are both coming from.

But.....you know the topic where you vote for how many meals/snacks you have on a fasting day, ie. there are many ways to do 5:2.....well, what about having something that you can show on you stats as to how you fast.

I have noticed a lots of posts where people struggle with fast and are looking for advice. To instantly see that they eat say 3 times a day on a fast makes a difference in what advice we can give.

Wildmissus, I am completely with you on this one. I find it so much easier to get an idea of someone's dilemma, progress or lack of it when I have an idea of their stats and that would be a great addition. That said, I don't stick to routine myself. I generally aim for a 24 fast, dinner to dinner, but this is not set in stone and I will sometimes have a snack, light lunch or (not often) abandon the fast altogether. I do agree though, that the more info. people post the more pertinent we can make the replies.

Thanks dhana, as you know I've been adjusting how I fast so I'm not sure how I would label myself, I guess it would be whatever I do most of or having a 'varies' label.
