Fasting book request

My sister in law has requested a book to help her start fasting once a week. The trouble is, all the books I've seen are focused on losing weight. Is there even one book out there for people who are adopting IF strictly for the benefits to their general health, and don't want to lose weight? Frankly, I think the emphasis on weight loss would really turn her off to the whole business.

Thanks...

Most of the 15 or so books I have on fasting present it at some point (if not throughout) as a potent weight loss method. It is what continues to sell books these days. All identify a lengthening list of associated health benefits. Several describe how society got where it is today. Others target athletic performance and biology. Several are very prescriptive. All of these can be interesting for those curious enough to want a broad understanding.

One book? If she can ignore chapter 5 on weight loss, I'd suggest Jason Fung's book The Complete Guide To Fasting as the one complete source of what, why and how.

Hey, @ADFnFuel, I just talked to my SIL. She got the book (I sent it without a gift notice - she'd been wondering where it came from! ). She read the whole thing and is enthusiastically fasting once a week. She is even pleased that she's lost a few pounds (though she certainly did not need to). She's drinking bulletproof coffee. Well, there's no accounting for tastes - I have no desire to even try it!!

So, thanks again.
