FastDay New Users Guide
The Forum Homepage
The Forum Homepage is the hub of the forum community, so let's have a look at what you'll see there:
1. Announcements
Important topics for the attention of all members are at the top of the page. Make sure you keep an eye out for any new announcements which may be relevant to you.
2. Recent Active Topics
A quick way to see what's been posted most recently, the 10 most recently active topics are listed next on the page, along with a handy link to view the full list of recent posts.
3. Forums List
To help you find what you're looking for and to keep things tidy here, the FastDay Forum comprises a number of forums covering different aspects of fasting, and other topics. You'll find all the forums listed on the the Forum Homepage, grouped into various categories such as New to the FastDay Forum, Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle, Explore Intermittent Fasting and the 5:2 Diet and more.
Get posting!
To start a new post, you need to choose which forum to post in - whichever seems most relevant to the topic you want to discuss. For example, for your first post, why not pop over to the Introduce Yourself forum and say hello? Or, if you've got a question about fasting, try one of these forums instead.
When you're on a forum page, you'll see a 'Post a New Topic' button above (and below) the list of topics. Click on it and you'll be able to create your new topic - give it a subject, type a message* and hit the button to post it - easy! We've got a great set of emojis you can use in your posts, as you'll see. Please don't try to use the built in emojis on your tablet or phone, as they won't work (and sometimes will prevent your message from posting).
To reply to an existing topic it's a very similar process. Click on a topic to view it and you'll see a button for posting a reply. Click it and you'll be able to post a reply to the topic. If you're in a hurry or don't need to add any fancy styling to your post, scroll to the bottom of the topic to find the Quick Reply bar, click it and a box will appear for a quick & easy reply.
Please note that your very first post on the forum will need to be approved by a member of the FastDay team before it becomes visible. This is simply to help us prevent spam posts and we will approve all genuine posts as quickly as possible.
Tracking your progress
Studies have shown that tracking our weight loss progress can really help to motivate us and encourage us to stick with it - leading to greater success.
To help you succeed, we've created a way for you to track your progress here on the FastDay site. Signing up for the Progress Tracker is quick and easy, just give it a few details about yourself and you'll be able to add your weights & measures (waist, hips, body fat and blood pressure) to chart your weight loss journey, set goals and earn achievement badges. The Tracker will also keep you up to date with your calorie needs based on your current weight.
Click here to get started with the Progress Tracker.
The FastDay site, forum and tracker are all designed to work well on mobile devices as well as desktop computers. However, if you'd prefer to use an App-based tracker, we can now offer that through our FREE FastDay Program on the Ways of Eating App. Our free Program on intermittent fasting offers lots of tips and information as well as weekly challenges, group chat and a tracker - all in one handy App.

Your profile
All your forum settings can be controlled through your User Control Panel, such as how you want to be notified, any topics or forums you have subscribed to, your personal profile, private messages and blog settings. Your User Control Panel can be accessed via the drop-down menu when you click on the button displaying your username (see aboveright).
You'll probably want to set up an avatar (profile picture) for yourself, which will show up beside your forum posts. When viewing your User Control Panel, click on the Profile tab and select Edit Avatar. Here you'll be able choose an avatar from our gallery, link to an avatar on another website or upload an avatar image from your computer (if it is not square, it will be cropped to size for you).
Your Blog
Once you've started posting at the forum, you'll be able to start your own Blog page here if you so wish - allowing you to journal your fasting progress or just share some recent musings.
You can give your blog a name and a description via your User Control Panel's Blog tab.
Posting a Blog is very similar to posting on the forum in technique - simply go to the Blog link at the top of the site and then choose 'My Blog'. Click on the 'Post a Blog Entry' button and you'll be able to post, just like you do on the forums.
