First day fasting, I have had 3 protein shakes, after I got home from work I went the gym, it helped distract me from feeling hungry, then I had my third, feeling a bit down and have a little head ache, very mild.

Welcome to the fast day forum ! Well done on your first day fast x
The mild headache could be you havent had enough water to drink?
Drink lots of it is my advice, try various fruit/ green/ herbal teas..Have an oxo drink or a slimmasoup if you need a mid afternoon boost ( the salt helps) ...and maybe have real food instead of shakes?
Have a read round all the info on here, loads of helpful stuff and friendly advice! X

Welcome to the forum :-)

What is in those protein shakes? I would *never* recommend them to anyone. Can you even pronounce the ingredients? I would think those are at least half the reason for your headaches.

We really recommend eating real food, and avoiding carbs for the most part. Many of us simply skip breakfast and lunch, adn try to consume all of our calories in the evening. You can have a chicken breast or a piece of fish and quite a lot of vegetables and fruit for 500 calories! During the day, drink all of the zero calories beverages you want. Water is always best, but coffee, decaf, tea, herbal tea are all good choices. I put a tablespoon of milk in each of my coffees (10 calories each) - it's fine if you count the calories.

Good luck on your second fast.

Welcome and good luck! I also prefer real food on fast days (and non-fast days), but I made a commitment, well before starting fasting, to eat less processed food. Everyone is different, though, so whatever works for you! Unlike a lot of people here, I do eat breakfast: a soft-boiled egg. But like everyone else says, drink lots, including a low cal soup if necessary. The salt really does help. My first two weeks were pretty tough, but after that, fasting became second nature almost.

Welcome

And like most here I am a fan of simple and fresh food on fast and feed days.

Good luck!

How did the rest of your day go? Fast days can be a bit tough at the beginning, but it does get easier. Hang in there.
