Hi everyone, I am returning to 5:2 after reading Dr Mosley's interview in The Telegraph, updating fast days to 800 calories for all. This is definitely doable for me. I have been away fo a while. I finally feel I can stick to this. First Fast day is today. It's amazing the difference an extra 300 calories makes!

Welcome back!

I believe that on the 800 calorie version Dr Mosley says you need to ear Mediterranean style the rest of the week, ie low carb, good fats, real food. So it's more of a full time diet. That said, even on 800 cals twice a week you should be at a calorie deficit and gain some benefits of fasting (ADF has always been 800 calories after all) so if it works for you and you can stick to it, that's what matters :)

Welcome back!

I always say any reduction in calories is a good reduction and far better than no reduction at all!!

Welcome back and good luck this time round. :clover: :clover: You have the experience of your earlier venture which I hope will help, as should the extra cals!!

Whole foods eating and reducing sugar, as per the Mediterranean diet, is good to aim for whatever your fasting regime. Whatever you choose to do, though, needs to be sustainable for you.

Best wishes!
