Tea with milk substitute
10 Mar 2013, 10:11
Hi there.

Can anyone suggest a milk substitute product I can put in my morning cup of tea?
I am coping ok on Fast Days, but I really miss my morning cup of tea with milk. I find that the milk seems to get my hunger motor going so I feel hungry all day.I am currently abstaining from tea because of this.

How does other Fast Dieters cope with this?

Many thanks

Try Kara coconut based milk alternative - less carbs which may help.

Thanks for that Phil.
That's well worth a try. I have tried fruit teas but I find them revolting. I will look out for Kara when I go shopping.

I started drinking lemon and ginger tea or fennel tea on my 1st fast day last monday. Since then I just haven't fancied ordinary breakfast tea with milk. However this morning I had my first ordinary cup of tea - not as good as I remembered so am back on the ginger and lemon or fennel tea, I have also stopped the coffee, I think it is a mind over matter thing! YOu can survive it! :)

I agree with Loubelia, fennel, lemon and ginger and even nettle tea are all good. I know what you mean about the fruit teas...they all taste a bit like severely watered down hot squash! The herbier ones are better. Might try the coconut milk option though as I still love a good cup of regualar tea. :)

Thank you

Maybe I will give fruit teas another try, and binge drink on tea with milk on Feast Days!

As I sit in my office here on my fast day, I am drinking my customary strong tea with a smidge of milk and cannot contemplate life without it I'm afraid!! Can you drink your tea stronger and just waft the milk over it like I do?! Some things in life are non negotiable, and tea in the morning is one of them!

I just have my tea with a smidgen of (whole) milk on fast days but have noticed I forget on feast days and am also cutting down amount of milk. I also prefer the tea a bit weaker when just having a smidgen of milk.

Tea without milk is sacrilege I'm afraid! Yesterday I bought some nettle and fennel tea and fruit bust tea. Lets just say I wont be buying any more. I shall just have to go without tea for 2 days a week.
