Looking for some recipes for almond milk and/or coconut milk hot cocoa. Just home from the grocery with both of these to try a fast day cocoa with them. I bought the unsweetened vanilla version of both almond milk and coconut milk. I have Sweet n Low and Splenda packets. I googled and found TONS of recipes using honey, maple syrup, sugar and stevia from the plant. I dont want to use the first three on a fast day and dont have a stevia plant either. I don't have the stevia packets this very minute either; but they carry them at the store near the school; so I easily get them tomorrow. Help me, please. Fall is coming soon. I am not especially looking forward to the freezing side effect of this WOE again.

I don't have any recipe but I would keep it simple. I put cinnamon or peppermint extract in mine. Even orange zest sometimes. However I drink hot cocoa with unsweetened cocoa powder and skimmed milk so very different from almond and coconut milk but the idea is the same
Star anise, or a pinch of ginger or even a pinch of chilli if you really need warming up!
Ground cardamom in hot chocolate is nice for a change - I find a more warming drink than hot chocolate is Indian tea or chai, made with loose tea (or a teabag!), hot spice infused milk (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, chilli) vary them as you like. I imagine almond milk would work well. It tastes better a little sweet. Keeps me warm and full for hours.
Thanks. The cinnamon and nutmeg sound really good. I like the idea of ginger and other spices that are warming, too. Adding ginger to a detox bath--epsom salt, baking soda and ginger--really works well for detox and taking the chill out of your bones.
