Hi

I love carrot batons and cucumber slices dipped in houmous but sadly houmous can become very moreish and high in calories :(

can anyone give me some recipes or reccommend any other low cal low fat one's i could use?

:)
If you grill or bake an aubergine until it's charred & collapsed, you can peel it and whizz it up with a dollop of yogurt or crème fraiche. No idea how many calories, but got to be lower than hummus!

Or freshly made salsa with chopped toms, red onion, chillis and lots of coriander or parsley?

I suspect you could make a pea & mint hummous for less calories than standard.

Sorry no recipes here just ideas! I had carrot, cucumber & pepper today with nearly half a pot of jalapeno topped hummus from sainsburys - it was delish and after that I had a bit of natural yogurt topped with fresh fig and blueberries and I'm not hungry at all now (2 hours later). Not a fast day I hasten to add so have benefitted from the fat in the hummus keeping me full!
Yoghurt whizzed with garlic and cucumber (grated and drained) or mint. Basically, tzatziki or riata. Don't make the yoghurt low-fat though as it's too watery and yuk.

Greek style yogurt has a far more robust texture so the 0% fat variety makes good dips :-)
Tesco make a delicious beetroot and horseradish dip. Although I am rather a fan of the nasal clearing qualities of horseradish, this has a far more gentle taste. I might try this recipe soon:

Low fat soft cheese like Philadelphia makes a good base for dips. The flavoured varieties are good by themselves or you can mix some of the plain with sundried tomato paste and basil or a veggie pesto if you can find some
Artichoke dip is lovely, my recipe is pretty much this:

Also, I make my own take on houmous by blending a carrot and some chickpeas in a blender until they are roughly blended, and adding some yoghurt + a tiny bit of lemon juice. I also add in things like capers when the mood takes me. I then use that as a dip and a sandwich filling, it tastes quite like houmous without the calories.
I do Greek yoghurt no fat obviously finely diced cucumber minus the watery middle bit, large clove of garlic crushed, teaspoon of mint sauce ( from a jar! ) and a good sprinkle of cayenne pepper, a mix between a raita n tzatziki it's yum! :like:
I love my veggies with lime juice, salt and optional chili powder :)
Where are you? If in Aus, Coles Simply Less do a hommus, roast pumpkin and harissa dip which is delish and low cal at 100 per 100g.
Cottage Cheese in the food processor mixed with ranch seasoning.

Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge thinned with 1/2TB each of olive oil and apple cider vinegar. (I like the Aldi brand cheese wedge better since it is less calories and less expensive!)
Wow some of these ideas sound great - I'm in the Uk Tara25 :)
Not exactly a dip, but a dressing that tastes nice on raw carrots and other raw veggies is Hellman's Fat Free Vinaigrette (50 cals for 100ml or 8 cals for a 15ml portion) or Hellman's Balsamic Vinaigrette at 75 cals for 100ml or 13 cals for 15ml portion.
I have no idea how many calories it is, but I like to use yogurt, tahini, and lemon juice as a dip.
