100g prawns, 15g tom yum paste (yes I cheated), a huge bowl full of random vegies from the crisper drawer - tonight it was green beans, kale, a bit of white cabbage, a handful of spinach leaves.

It was almost too much to eat and works out at 140cal. I often have a version of this for dinner on fast days. Mix it up with mushrooms, corn (not too much as it's quite calorie-dense), water chestnuts, bamboo etc.
Yummo, it looks fantastic, thx so much for sharing. Ingredients are on my next shopping list.
Drat! just back from the supermarket, without the Tom Yum paste (which I didn't know I needed till I saw your post)
Yes the beautiful Tom Yum low cal and it satisfies on many levels and is a great fast day soup and the paste makes light work of preparation ... good idea
 sian. Enjoy, zingbing and gillymary.
I've never seen tom yum paste in Okinawa, but I can get the broth in cans. I've clearly been too precious about what ingredients to add, though. I love the idea of adding leafy greens. Genius.

Thai is one of my favorite types of food! So lucky that Tom Yum is low cal!
Looks really good! What is tomyum and where do I buy it in USA? :victory:
@ceece Tom Yum is an Asian hot and sour soup (a lot of Aussies eat a lot of Asian food) which traditionally takes hours to make. That's why I said I 'cheated' because you can buy tom yum paste which you just add to boiling water with the other ingredients and it gives a fairly authentic flavour. I buy mine at the local Asian grocery store but it's also in supermarkets here in the Asian food section. Looks like this:

Tom Yum is Thai http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_yum and not the same as the sweet and sour http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_and_sour_soup available in the US. I was interested in this as well, I'm glad I looked it up. :geek: :)

Another one last night. This one had julienned zucchini (courgette for UK people), capsicum (bell peppers for US people), mushroom, red onion, broccoli and prawns with the tom yum psste. Less than 150 cal - I think - I've stopped counting.
