Slim rice/pasta
28 Jun 2013, 11:52
Hi,
I just wondered if anyone else has tried "Slim Rice" and "Slim pasta". It's quite expensive for a pack (you can buy at Amazon and Holland and Barrett) but only had about 15 cals per portion!! It doesn't taste of anything and just absorbs the sauce you put on it... It does however have a strange texture, which at first put me off but I persevered and I don't mind it at all now. It's especially good with curry/pasta sauces and is a brilliant carb substitute. For my fast days I roast some butternut squash with Thai 7 spice and mix with slim rice. It only comes in at less than 150 cals and you get a massive meal out of it! :like: I also have the pasta mixed with pesto and a spag bol sauce. It's brilliant... Can't recommend highly enough... Once you get used to the texture and price!!

Welcome to the forum Soodiva! I haven't tried these yet but I know several people on the forum rave about them. Take a look below this thread and you'll see some other posts about these noodles and you can enter 'noodle' in the search box and find more recipes. :)

I love it and use it a lot; a few in a miso cup of soup or in a noodles salad as well as pasta substitute.
I buy mine at an Asian Grocery - have a look, much cheaper.
They are called Shirataki Noodles.
