I have a pair of wool slacks in great condition. Also a never-worn silk dress that, although it finally fits me, is really quite unflattering.

As @Marybeth learned recently, used clothing shops are exceedingly picky. So I started googling around, and this is what I found:

This organization is worldwide, so there may well be a branch in your city.
Hi there,
Yes, there is something similar here and a great idea for women trying to get back into the workforce but can't afford to buy decent clothes. I was in the op shops this morning picking up a couple of bits and couldn't believe the amount of good quality 'labels' in there if you hunt around a bit. Only came out with a skirt and t shirt this time, probably just as well though!!

Hey @Debs, I remember way back when the short tent opened you had just found jeans in the op shop (what does that stand for, anyway? here it's the thrift store) that were just the right length. My daughter (5'1") shops almost exclusively in the thrift store, and gets great deals.

I was shopping unsuccessfully online tonight for a nice pair of pants. Really don't want to go to a store this time of year, but I might have to, as the size charts apparently think I should have a 24" waist for the rest of me. I'm not even overweight anymore, and my waist is an easy 29". Grr. And if I buy cropped pants to avoid having to hem them, the petite length is 24", which is one or two inches shorter on me than full length pants should be. Okay for jeans, but not dress pants. Grr again.

Okay, got that out of my system...
Yep, thrift shop, or in the UK, charity shop. It stands for opportunity shop I think. Yes, I don't do 'normal' shops these days, I always come out disappointed! I can sympathise with what is normal, let's face it, who is?!! Even short length trousers are still three inches too long on me!
I am waiting to get my work trousers and hoping I can get them taken up before I go to site as they will be at least six inches too long. Last time I had to roll them up, and when I took them off every night, the rubbish that fell out of the turnups, twigs, leaves, red dust, I'm surprised I didn't pick up a few stray lizards in there too
