Watch out Bram Stoker's Dracula doesn't come creeping up from Whitby! Now that would be spooky!
And nearly Halloween ...
Another photo, looking down over the yard, towards what I think must have been the neighbours' privies (or netties, to those from the North East)
I've been told there is a good fish monger at the top of the village, shall go and investigate tomorrow, apparently oak- smoked salmon to die for - or maybe some smoked herring! apparently @TML13 has been experimenting with spaghetti, smoked herring and roe, tomato and garlic sauce with lemon thyme

I totally love the North Yorkshire coast. It's only 90 mins drive yet I find life toooo busy to get there much. Have a lovely time and try the water- it's only October xx
Enjoy anyway
Enjoy your spooky hols xx
I gave it a lot of thought and concluded that Colin Firth is hiding in my house and spying on me. Colin, please reveal yourself, we'll have a blast!!!
Oh you have brought back some lovely memories! We used to stay in a cottage in Staithes when I was little. It was right on the sea wall. We used to go mainly early or late in the season and the tides were high and would break on the wall below sending spray right over the bay window! I've spent hours on the rocks dabbling in the pools.
Just lying in my cooosy bed listening to rain on the rooftiles ... it is a lovely warm cottage, near to the old beckside, Miffy. I do envy anyone coming here as a child, it must have been a wonderful and idyllic way to have a holiday ...
Actually just had a peep out of the window, and it looks good even in the rain. More updates to follow - must investigate the fish shop, and also the butchers ... ( food comes first of course )

@TML13 I am keeping a lookout around the village for any tall dark and moody- looking strangers who keep their mouths shut - but a trip to Whitby is on the cards, might have more luck there!!!!
@Miffie for a moment there I thought you meant you had memories of Colin Firth in your house, my little heart went into overdrive, just for a couple is seconds, phew!
