Appearing on TV!!
04 Nov 2013, 13:18
No, not me, but wondering if any of you ever have?

Now that I have lost weight (I know the tele isn't kind to the figure!) I wouldn't mind appearing on something like 'Bargain Hunt' (UK) or a quiz show like 'Countdown', but though my general knowledge is pretty good, I'd be lousy on sleb, modern music or soaps questions!

None of my friends would entertain the idea, so you lot are quite safe - you won't be seeing me any time soon!

Would you ever consider applying to appear - or, if you have, how did you find the experience?

My late husband could be seen in the audience on the Price is Right game show. My little brother (45 yrs old) was interviewed for a news station about the hours changing at his local Post office. He did quite well considering he's special needs and a bit challenged in his speech. :)

I was interviewed by the local news outside of a Wiggles concert when my son was two or three years old. He loved the Wiggles! My mom was in advertising and knew the reporter, so when we walked up, they asked us for the interview. I think it's also because my son was so dang cute!!

I keep debating with myself about applying for Box or No Box. Sorry, Deal or No Deal! It would probably do me good to be forced to stay with a bunch of strangers and have to socialise with them - and I'd love to try to beat the banker!

I believe I was on TV when I did the 'swan round up' locally and there was some coverage on the local news, but I never saw it and I would have been in a kayak and pretty much indistinguishable from anyone else!

Not me but my girls a few years ago took part in a mass 'Dashing White Sergeant'. As a result they were on the TV (along with all the other kids from the 5 schools in the area) and they are in the Guinness Book of Records, well the schools are.

I was on TV years ago as a child. The film crew of "Oh Happy Band" came to my home Village of Crondall and filmed us kids following the band. Harry Worth was the main star...remember him anybody? Blimey...makes me feel proper old!

We always watch Pointless most evenings and I often think it would be fun to go on that...but like you, Penny, I can't find anyone willing to join me

Back in 1983 I participated in a peace march and was happy to spot reporter Linda Wertheimer (National Public Radio) on the sidelines--I'm a little starstruck about NPR. On the evening TV news that night I saw myself walking by the camera. My two seconds on TV.

I have done a few telly interviews years ago on business programmes for the BBC as a 'company spokesperson'. It's never as bad as you might imagine, but two things a)telly really does make you look at least 10lbs heavier and b)despite the interviewer telling you what he/she is going to ask in advance, they always like to throw in a low ball to see how you react.

Telly people are tiny. I have met John Humphries, Kate Silverton, and Luisa Baldini and they are so petite, you feel clumsy next to them.

Anyway I was on telly by accident last winter. I was on the treadmill in the gym watching breakfast TV one morning and they were showing a film about plus size fashion which started with an opening sequence on Oxford St. I thought - that lady has the same hat as me. And then I realised - it WAS me! By the wonders of google, I have found the clip http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-21469596. Blink and you will miss me. Thank goodness it was not one of those shots where they were looking to film the-biggest-bottom-in-the-street-whilst-eating-chips.

@nursebean. I'd love to go on Pointless, only because I have a weird crush on Richard Osman , but I would get knocked out in the first round unless it was about food......

ha ha ha! Because, when I was a kid at school, my teacher said to me "you have one of those faces that is easy to forget". (I should add that to the hurtful things said to you thread). So scarred for life, I always wear something so people don't forget who I am. My crazy hat has served me well over the years thank you Ballerina. I can roll it up in my bag and when it rains, out it comes. Saves me from poking people's eyes out with an umbrella (as I'm short). I'm thinking of investing in a pair of ear muffs this year though.... these look quite interesting http://heyhomewrecker.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... muffs.html

I was on Top Gear once, in the audience, and then Clarkson shoved a mic in my face and asked me if I'd ever drive a pink Nissan Micra. Lordy!
