That just totally threw me. Sunny!! Its nearly midnight, what does she mean..... Oh!
I'm not jealous, much! I vaguely remember sunshine, I have sunshine on days like today, but sunshine and warmth or outright heat on your face, now that is something I miss.

We all wish you well Karen.

I see its about 21 centigrade in Walnut Creek right now - and its more like 25 here in Southern Cal. :sun: :sun: Winter so far this year has been almost non-existent where I live, its been really lovely. So California is looking its best to welcome Karen :usa:

Welcome to California @Rawkaren :sun:  ! Yes, @Pennyforthem and @silverdarling, I was at my "local" also known as a "dive" bar. Nothing fancy or trendy and alot of people that look old, only I remember them when they were younger! lol

Julie, sunshine in Southern California, means it is warm to hot when you stand in it! :sun: Very little humidity to filter the rays so it can be quite warm when you stand in it. My skin is so sensitive to the rays that I can get sunburned easily, even in winter.

I want to take a whole month off and hire an RV and do California, with a slide into Utah, I think its Utah, the place with the Grand Canyon, so I can see the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas of course. Its a dream, I just have to find someone who has an RV who fancies swapping my tiny house in the middle of the English countryside for their RV.

Actually Nevada! Grand Canyon runs also through Texas. Vegas is a way cool place to visit, over-the-top in every way. Make sure to pack lots of sunscreen and moisturizer - VERY dry and hot in summer!

Grand Canyon is in Arizona. Williams, Arizona is a small town just south of Grand Canyon and is a gorgeous place to stay whilst seeing the area, then be sure to head south from there to see Sedona, Arizona. The red colors of the desert are awe inspiring.

So, when I was in Vegas and they advertised tours for the GC, it was actually in AZ?

Julie, you just get here and I'll take you on the tour of a lifetime through the southwest! It is gorgeous! Lots of people have a difficult time seeing any beauty in the desert but with the right guide you will see the beauty in the starkness. To be able to actually see how the movements of the earth have shaped the mountains and hills is fantastic and humbling. :)

PS: Zion is in Utah and just as fantastic!

Yes, Debbie, the Grand Canyon is in Arizona, and not really that far from Las Vegas by helicopter or small plane. The Colorado River runs through Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California. It doesn't go anywhere near Texas since Texas is on the other side of the continental divide and can't go to the east. :)

But before we even get near the Southwest the tour must start on the northern west coast with the giant redwoods and sequoia's then h sorry in my excitement of this tour, I locked my keyboard and had to restart my computer, lol .. ok, as I was saying, then head to Yosemite and see the shear granite walls that @creakypete and his son climbed a few years back. The south through the Sierra's and San Joquin valley were everything is grown, including walnuts and almonds then over to Las Vegas and Grand canyon and Arizona then west to San Diego and up the coast to Disneyland and @Lovemyparrot and Universal studios and the Hollywood sign and Hollywood Blvd. Then head north again through Santa Monica and up to Solvang and Hearst Castle and wine country then back to San Fransisco and Golden gate bridge. That's if you start in San Fransisco but if you start in Los Angeles, we'll just reverse the order. ;)

Hi everyone. Just checking in. Thank you for your good wishes and thank you @silverdarling for posting that makeup free pic of me

All is well, although my family were avoiding me before I left. It think it might be because my stepfather who is in hospital right now in post operative care (operation to deal with an anuerysm), is suffering from complications. My mum won't pick up (only sms), and just says there are both ok (which means there is a problem). Rest of family are also evasive. Odd.......... Spent the flight worried sick. I think their logic is that they don't want to worry me before I start the new job. Well tough, I am...

Trying to stay awake but OH is already out for the count. Stay tuned fasters and thanks so much for the fabulous send off.

Karen, you will find our UK and European friends active from midnight on until about 2pm when they start dropping off ... one by one unless they are having trouble sleeping. Down-under and Japan start to join in the early afternoon. Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight so you can reset your "clock" to pacific time. :)

@betsysgr8 Going to make it my mission to get this site more noisy when the Brits are sleeping. There are 10x more folks in the US than Blighty. We need to cook up a 52fasting storm over here....
