No, no, no, @CandiceMarie! Battenburg cakes were born to be pink and yellow!

Yes @StowgateResident but almond/pistachio stuff is sometimes dyed green so it kind of works. @CandiceMarie you are a cruel woman finding and sharing all the batten burg images. I wonder if the felt one is impregnated with almond fragrance mmmmm, sigh, yumm

I didn't make the cake - had a snooze on the sofa instead! Now I have to think about dinner!

 bettenburg finished  I had jokingly said to Beloved, that the recipe said that the cake will keep well for three days in an airtight container. Well, an airtight container would need to be a vault in the darkest depths of Timbuktu to have made it last 3 hours never mind three days in our previous life. Amazingly, it DID last three days and that was us bravely tackling it twice a day (breakfast and after dinner)
This is indeed a miraculous way of eating. :victory:
Still looking for a recipe that will give light sponge, after I've tried the same recipe with room temperature eggs, then with the creaming method.
All in the name of research you understand. :geek:
Note to self- holidays plus battenburg experiments may not be kind on exise day. Do NOT be disheartened!

Will the creaming method not count as exercise if you do it with a wooden spoon!

But Merlin, who does it with a wooden spoon these days?
