Carol, my good fairy
19 Apr 2014, 05:16
Well, I was taking a walk with hubs today. Beautiful spring day. Really needed to relax, as life hasn't been easy of late (another thanks to @Callyanna and @Debs for generously offering their shoulders for me to cry on).

Anyway, I put my credit card - just in case we ended up at the coffee shop - and my phone in my back pocket. At some point, my phone rang, I took it out and answered it, and you guessed it, when I got home, no credit card. Total and complete idiocy, putting it in my pocket loose like that.

So we raced over to the path and retraced our steps. Nothing. On the way back as I was scanning the ground, a woman coming toward us said "Are you Wendy?" I felt like hugging her, or at least giving her a reward. Instead, I just asked her her name. Carol.

So, a huge thank you across the ether to Carol, walking on the path, picking up my credit card, and just happening to see me 1/2 hour later looking for it.

How lucky, hate that feeling when you have lost ID, purse or credit card. Most People are inherently good I find

Yeah baby!!

Just a thought Wendy, I've got a phone case with enough space for a sneaky £5 or £10 note in the back. Or maybe one with a credit card slot.

That restores your faith in human nature @wendyjane just when you needed something good to boost your spirits at the moment! So pleased you got your card back as it's a nightmare having to cancel everything.

Awful moment @wendyjane When you realised your error your heart sinks with the thought of what damage could be done.
Well done to Carol that honest lady who recognised you from your name alone. Lol
I know that feeling of wanting to reward her I'm sure your heartfelt thanks was enough.
This time last year whilst I was returning from a walk and nearing home I picked up a wallet and felt so "guilty" thinking the owner may have seen me, I didn't even look into it but could see notes/cash at the top, I immediately took a detour of one mile to the police station they opened it to find £275 told me the gents name + address asked if I knew him. No
Took my name etc and nothing not even a thank-you from the owner, found out he passes my front door twice daily!!!

Thanks, everyone. It restored my faith some too.
I'm off to drive with my daughter across the country. Should be fun, except for the worry over our very sick cat Lucy, and having to leave hubs to care for her alone.
Let's hope for the best.
See you in 4 or 5 days, as I'm not bringing a computer, and I don't do the forum on my phone.

Have a good trip wendyjane and enjoy the time with your daughter. Fingers crossed for Lucy's recovery.
