Caution! Computer chairs ...
10 Sep 2013, 19:34
... Just thought I'd share this...

Been suffering a bit of lower back pain recently, couldn't identify the cause ...Until I suddenly realised the culprit!

Yes it was my chair at work! Needed adjusting to suit my newly slimmed midriff! Not lost that much weight overall but the minute I adjusted it, it felt better.

So please everybody, Check Your Chairs, especially if you've lost a lot of weight, and spend a lot of time desk bound (@Moogie I'm talking to you! ) you might be surprised, and end up feeling a lot more comfortable, and preventing quite a few aches and pains
   :dazed:
Lol, I've also found that I've needed to adjust the seat in my car, apparently since I don't have quite as much "behind" me anymore, I've had to move the seat up a bit.
And your Sleep Number.
Sleep number ...I am lost

Agree big time about the right chair and checking out how you are seated, I am struggling to sit at present as my hip and lower back are out so it is timely for me to check my seating position in the car and at PC thanks

Google "sleep number bed" :)
Agree re beds. But bought new one a couple of years ago, worth it. Still comfy, one of the best investments I've made. Must definitely be worth it for those who've lost a lot of weight.
Haha, bless you - don't worry about me, I've got one of those strap-on (ooh-err!!) back rests on my chair which is lovely :) I'd actually like to treat myself to a decent chair as this one is a good 9 years old now and quite creaky (it's seen my best of weights and my worst...). Problem is there's nowhere nearby that sells office chairs for me to try out and if I'm going to spend a couple hundred quid I want to make sure it's comfy first!

Glad you got your chair sorted & feel better for it :) I think it was when I got to my biggest I found my uncomfy and got myself this strap-on (yes, ooh-err again) back rest.
I have already had to put my monitor on a block of timber as its too low. I think I need to actually start using the keyboard shelf for what its intended instead of somewhere to store my writing paper as I am still slumping, which means I'm twisting my neck wrong and that causes all sorts of problems. A lower keyboard will mean I can drop my arms/ shoulders and probably drop the seat height meaning I will be looking at my monitor at the correct height.

Though one of Moogies back rest thingy's may help too.

Dead right Julie - I put my monitor higher up some years ago - amazing what difference it made posture wise. At work I have one of those adjustable work stations rather than a desk, which has now been round 5 different locations with me - have refused just an ordinary desk. Had bad shoulder trouble for a year 10 years ago, took lots of physio to sort, would never want to go back to that time again!
I just collared one of the lads and now have my keyboard at a lower level. This is weird, as its now in a different 'place' I have to look at the keyboard to type. I don't touch type as such because i only normally use two fingers to type, but I can type pretty much with only glancing at the keyboard. Just in these last few sentences I've made 6 mistakes as well.

Plus I'm having a bit of trouble with the arms of the chair knocking my elbows And the mouse is now further away. This is going to take some getting used to.
Bit like changing your car (which I'm about to do later this week!) feels really weird at first, gears and pedals in slightly different place, then it's amazing how quickly you get used to it. Watch out for any extra aches and pains though
I m definately sitting more upright already.
