Re: Charity Shops !! Do You?

I've recently started. We have a fantastic charity shop (we have loads obviously but one particular one) that takes a lot of care of the clothes and I've just bought nearly all my new size 14s in there. Got some lovely mid-label stuff, some with labels still on. The Other half has been very impressed and wants to go have a nosey himself.

I'm sure these clothes will end up back in the hands of charity really soon too ;)

I also buy some other things there. For example I found a complete set of plates and glasses, chairs, and even a mattress for when somebody comes for the night. I am a bit strange, in the fact that I don't give a damne about the value of my furniture, I am a lot sentimental and I have very old furniture, some were to my grandparents, another one my dad made it, etc. I prefer things that have a "soul", a story. As I live in a very old house (build in 1850), it goes perfectly with them.

Oohhh manderlay I Love old furniture like you say it has soul, I recently got a dinning table + chairs from antique shop it's so lovely to look at daily but not very comfortable to sit on, never mind not spending so much time sitting at it and eating LOL :like:
Also had glasses (wine) and other pottery and lacy doilies and of course handbags what woman can resist a new/old different handbag I usually use them for a year or so donate them back and buy different one.
The charity shops in my area aren't very good but my friend who loves them drives miles to do new + different towns so of course I go with her I used to be totally bored with them all because as Julie said when you're looking for Big sizes its mostly crap  but now I'm getting into a size 20 loads more choice but as someone else said some charge far to much considering the condition of some, but yes you do occasionally get clothes with labels still on. But we've all donated something with tags still on that we thought we'd never get back into pre 5:2  Sue

Oh I love charity shops, fab for books and toys for the kids, I picked up a wooden ride on for my toddler, it had a cute little trailer £2.50! Bargain! Love it. I like to donate too, I don't like waste!

I love a good mooch in the charity shops! Sometimes you can find a real bargain and who doesn't love that!?

On Saturday I managed to get my hands on a beautiful vintage style black polka dot dress, just my taste and just my size! So sweet looking! I feel like a 40s pin up gal in it...well a very voluptious one LOL! Just trying it on, I felt more feminine than I have done in months!

And at 5 Euro, I couldn't afford to leave it behind! Hee hee!

Am holding out for a new wardrobe. I never had any luck finding things that fit me, for some reason but I can definitely see their appeal.

People can check where others live if the other person has added that info to their profile. So you can see it under their picture on the left of the page.

Well after stating my local charity shops were pretty poor
I have just returned from a little trip to :-) I'll just have a look while I'm here and come back home with 2 tops 1 pair trousers + 1 skirt
The trousers + 1top had still got labels on !!! £10 I spent  now my ''in between'' wardrobe is complete I'm not even going to look at any more clothes at all because the charity shops can have them all back again sometime soon
Because I seemed to have nudged my plateau ( Fingers Crossed) with a 1lb loss, that'll do for me :clover: Sue

Yes,I have been using charity shops for some time for clothing, household items, books etc. I find I am not a conventional size in the shops here - the Cypriots have very narrow hips and no waist so you can imagine trying to find something that fits my hips and my waist!
