I need to get back on this WOL but am finding lots of excuses to fail.
My youngest is having major surgery end of July, we are having more adaptations done before this. Her respite centre is being closed down. I am trying to get my nail business off the ground and I just keep eating crap!
It is ridiculous. I lose a few pound and put them back on. I seem to be gaining up to 10lb between Friday and today......just what on earth? This doesn't even seem possible. I need to stop self sabotaging! I thought if I wrote it down, I might be able to do something about it. I have managed to stick to a fast today. I'm on a course tomorrow and might just try being good as lunch is provided.
Still haven't got around to buying a hula hoop, but it is on my list for tomorrow.
Hope you're being more successful than I seem to be :clover:
Hiiiii karen !
You were doing so well when i first joined this forum..
Sooooo you CAN do it again..time has to be right tho..
If you have a lot of stress in your life, and from what you say,you certainly have!..be kind to yrself,go for damage limitation, just do yr best, get fasts in when you can,16:8s sometimes, avoid the carbs much as poss..If you feel you can' t lose right now,at least don't gain, coz that' ll stress you too!
So sorry to hear about DDs respite centre...why is there never money for these much needed services, but always enough to buy weapons,go to war, overpay the politicians?
Wishing you well with yr nail business and its good to see you here again x
Hi Karen well I was just in the naughty tent with @CandiceMarie saying I'm on a little wobble myself.
You've got so much going on in your life right now
so be kind to yourself and break yourself in slowly if that helps I'm far better jumping straight in there with complete determination, keeping busy is a great
fastday winning combination.
I'm taking few days off before my willing Mon fast.
Good luck to you @Karenm with your return and let's both stop making more excuses and get stuck in. :clover:
Hi Karen
I think you are right .it is virtually impossible to put on that amount in a week -you would need to eat 35000 calories extra-if my maths is correct at this time of night-not impossible I suppose but very unlikely. My guess is water retention, or dodgy scales!
Good luck with the hoopla hoop I've never managed to master it.
*standing by with the wet fish* Cut yourself some slack , woman! ;)
That is a hell of a lot going on in your life, much of which you have no control over.
You've managed a fast day today - give yourself a huge pat on the back for that as we give you a round of applause. WELL DONE.
Now, can you take a we bit of time and set yourself little goals that are achievable for today, tomorrow and a couple of days in advance.
The hula hoop could be one, doing a 16:8 for one day could be another. Don't set yourself up to fail!
Once you start to have more success, building on your successful fast today, you can build on it.
Remember that stress releases hormones that make losing weight harder, and you are right in the middle of stress-ville.
Please look after yourself.
I have drawn a target on the scales and finally allowed my husband to dispose of them!
I wasn't good over the weekend but did 18:6 on fri, sat and Monday.
I even managed a fast yesterday. But I'd forgotten how easy it would be to break it. I realised that I have been munching away at daughters food whilst preparing it. Yesterday it was extremely difficult, I made her some toast which is cut into little squares and it was tough not to pinch a couple of squares.
I have been absentminded eating for 8 months! I know it can't continue as the dodgy scales showed a 13 yesterday! (@merlin I knew 10lb was almost impossible with 3 18:6. Thankyou for confirming that  )
I have been eating instead of drinking water. Need to sort that too.
I am going to do another fast tomorrow.
@Sue.Q we can do this. (How do I tag people?)
Hi Candice, I can do this and need to as I always gain weight when in hospital with ka. She will be in for a few days this time, but we will also be stuck in the house for a couple of weeks after that. My husband is taking us up to Plymouth in Cyril (30 year old T25) He is going to sleep in that with the dogs and we can prepare our own meals instead of eating the restaurant food. That should help.
Janeg wet fish don't worry me, we had our own fishmonger van until last week lol
I have to stop being so critical of myself, but not keep making excuses as to why I feel justified in eating so much junk! My life will never be anything else but stressful with such a complex little girl (she's actually a young lady now but I'm burying my head in the sand on that one lol)
Right!
I'd better go get myself for this professional parent course as it's an hours drive from here!
Thankyou everyone. I've missed the support you lot give xxx
Good luck with today @Karenm you're doing OK just take it one day at a time if a fast fails then try the next day or whenever convenient, even going over the 500 won't hurt at all if it helps to ease you in up the fastday calories just shorter then slowly reduce further.
As for your days at the hospital just doing 16:8 days are good especially if you can lower your carb intake this won't be easy because of the great British standby sandwich, that'll get easier for you when home and a fridge full of fresh salads.
Enjoy Cyril as much as you can lol

@Sue.Q yay. I've managed to tag you
I need to get the crochet back out as I can't eat whilst doing that!
I know I did well last year and that's what I'm going to keep in mind. I would like to be in the 11s again before hospital, it should be doable, but I'm nervous as to what the boots scales are going to show on Friday as I've just been using dodgy scales for the last 7 month! I am just going to accept whatever it says and just get back on with it. I need to find the naughty tent. I hope it's got a naughty step for me
x
I went to Boots and their scales are now the only ones I will be using!
I am 12st5lb!
I had a look back through my MFP weights and it's quite reassuring.
My last low weight on 11st5lb was on 1/11/13
In February 14 I was 12st4lb
Today shows just a 1lb gain since February. I have done an occasional fast and 18:6 most days.
The reassurance comes from knowing I will be able to maintain when I choose to!
Just a few words wish you luck with your weight loss Karen. :clover:
Lots of sensible advice here already, I can't really help much as I have very little will power myself but I know what it's like to live with stress. I think the best thing is to try not to worry, when you are thinking and worrying about your weight it's hard not to think of food all the time. The crochet sounds good or anything which will keep you busy and stop you reaching for the tempting goodies. Now we have some sunny weather, drinking more water to cool down might fill you up enough suppress your appetite, and chewing gum while you are preparing food might stop you popping in the toast squares.
I might try that myself!

@coffeetime
Second time lucky as my first long post crashed and I lost it (might be a virtual hint to shut up  )
Gum whilst feeding ka is inspired, thankyou x
I've been and bought a hulahoop from asda. Fourth attempt saw it staying up for a brief time, but haven't managed it since. I am still getting out of breath and there's lots of bending and straightening in picking it back up, so it's still doing some good, I think :clover:
