That's Google for you They're clever like that, the ads are run through the Google AdSense system and because of that they can tell what sort of things interest you from your Google searches. I think it's better to be shown ads for stuff you actually like/have been looking at than a bunch of unrelated things!
It's an odd world we have made for ourselves, @zamale. Most of the time we don't seem to notice what's going on around us in the cyber world, especially if we are used to being online; like my adult kids who are so familiar with all things computer.
Aren't they clever. I am after a nice marshmallow soft mattress topper and there they are looking at me while on a forum, any and all forums really.
@Zamale how strange because I am also considering a new mattress topper. I have seen the one I want in Dunelm Mills, not sure if they exist where you are but good luck with your search, I'm sure you will find what you want.

The Dunhelm Mills sounds romantic. Never heard of it here. I slept on a marshmallow mattress, thats how it felt, when I had 7 nights in Tasmania, the bed was a soft pillow top.
The closest I will get is with a mattress topper, with billowy pockets of fluff. It was bliss. Thankyou for your wishes in my quest. Hope you find what suits you in your quest for a mattress topper too.
It's also something called Remarketing campaigns in google Adwords. once youve looked at something it chases you around everywhere (different to adsense mentioned by Moogie above)

This Google page http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/#infocollect has several links that let you opt out of how much Google tracks you. Scroll down to the paragraph headed "Transparency and Choice" and follow those links.
Last time I tried to avoid tracking ads I ended up with even more bizarre ads that were even worse. at the moment I am being pursued by an M&S ad for a dress which I like the look of -but when you click on it you discover it is out of stock!
Most browsers have options that'll delete cookie files after you closer the browser.
Also the freeware Ccleaner does an excellent job of eliminating the cookies that Adsense relies on to invoke those unwanted advertisments.

I may have mentioned before that my DD works in digital advertising so I guess she is somewhat to blame On the other hand it does mean she has a job
It is kind of disturbing isn't it but at least we know it's just cookies.
What really freaks me out though is when OH or I do a search for something on our PC and then later on we get emails or adverts for the exact same thing on the laptop, these two devices are not connected in any way (other than being in the same house) there's no network and they have different email address and everything

I use Adblock Plus so I don't get the adverts at all.
