Golden milk
18 Jun 2014, 07:41
I made up a turmeric paste with filtered water and simmered to a thick paste, put in fridge and use it with coconut oil and black pepper. Better apparently than commercial anti inflammation drugs.

My question is after having this could I have sudafed a few hours later if desperate. I got yucky sinus pains in my head.

Or are they too interactive?

Hi @zamale,

Turmeric acts as an anti-inflammatory, but not in the way anti-inflammatory drugs do. Sudafed is pseudoephedrine, which works by constricting blood vessels in the mucous membranes.

So far as I know, there wouldn't be any interaction. I don't get your reference to "golden milk" - is that a name for the turmeric mixture?

Hope your sinus gets better!

@jools7 Thanks for getting back. The golden milk was a recipe I found online. When you have the mixture, the idea is to have it with almond milk or any milk really. I dont think its that essential, could be.

I have my turmeric with coconut oil and cracked pepper with a swig of milk to make it go down quicker. The turmeric if I am right is fat soluble and the pepper makes the turmeric 2000 times stronger.

I did love nurofen and anti inflammatory drugs, but I saw a segment that they were not ideal for older people. I just dont know with all the hoopla with just about everything out there and if turmeric works, great.

Feeling blah and may need to do the sudafed at bedtime.

Thanks for posting this recipe, I am going to give it a try. I don't like the taste of turmeric and at present the only way I have it is in Pukka 3 Ginger tea, which tastes ginger.

Get well soon.

I am with you @zamale don't like the look of the side effects of anti inflammatory drugs but they are so recommended by my gp. I stick with the pain what ever it is and try and just keep moving. Eventually my pain goes and am glad I have remained drug free. Love my wheat bags to sooth gnarly joints.

Will write your recipe here in my special recipe notebook just in case thanks
