Healthy Holidays
06 Feb 2014, 08:40
Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone could recommend a holiday that is compatible with dieting/a healthy lifestyle? When I'm on holiday I always end up breaking my healthy lifestyle and enjoying myself! So if anyone has been any where where healthy eating is strongly promoted and encouraged please let me know! I heard a lot of restaurants in Vancouver have healthy recipes so if anyone has been there please share your experiences.

Any advice will be appreciated!

Nicola

Oh you lucky thing. Off to Vancouver eh? I loved it there.

I'm afraid I can't be much help. I'm of the notion that if I'm on a healthy lifestyle all year then a holiday is a break from that. I don't mean to go mad and eat loads (although with this WOL you'll probably find you can't eat loads anymore!) but when you're on holiday you want to try "holiday foods" and not worry too much about it all. After all...you're on a break, so enjoy!!

Hello there, we are going to be there in June too and am not planning to hang back. Instead I shall be moderating what I eat, missing the odd meal, e.g. breakfast and not worry myself too much. Holidays are to be enjoyed but if you can take your new eating habits with you, that is half the battle!

Hi @Nicolab870! What do you mean by "healthy eating"? You don't have to answer that, it's just a tease. Everyone has their own perception of "healthy eating". I have yet to meet a person who read the same books and have similar beliefs on what healthy eating is. And to find one who runs a hotel/B&B based on those principles would be impossible. So, I'd say just relax and enjoy whatever comes with your holiday! You can always do camping, with your own cooking!
